This Sunday, Uruguay and Paraguay, the two best Latin American teams from last year’s World Cup, face each other in the finals of the 2011 Copa America. The game will be played in the Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti Stadium in Buenos Aires at 3:00 p.m. EDT on Sunday.
These are two teams that have similar tactical attacks and tight defense. Uruguay's core has been playing together for the past five years and is improving as the tournament goes on. Paraguay has yet to win in regulation, but is primed to repeat their previous results.
Uruguay has the edge in experience here, having played 26 finals of this tournament, winning 14, which ties Argentina for the most wins. Paraguay on the other hand, has played only seven finals, winning two.

On their path here, the “celeste” team of Uruguay started off with a couple of ties against Peru and Group winner Chile, before getting their first win over Mexico. In the quarterfinals, they defeated host Argentina on penalty kicks, and they earned their finals berth with a win over Peru.
In the group stage, the “albiroja” team of Paraguay tied all three matches played against Ecuador, Brazil and Venezuela. They earned their pass to the quarterfinals by virtue of being one of the two best third-place teams.
Paraguay then tied yet again with favorite Brazil in the quarters and with Venezuela in the semis. They won both matches via penalty kicks. They added their fists also after their semifinal match with Venezuela.
