With the lockout nearing an end any day now the NFL will be able to get back to business!! One of the big names that could get traded is Eagles QB Kevin Kolb. With Michael Vick the starter now Kolb will either be the backup or get traded to a franchise that could use him as a starter. Kolb has been linked to many teams this offseason, so I'll be giving you 5 franchise's that should try and trade for him.
The 49'ers have had a revolving door at QB. Alex Smith appears to be the starter heading into this upcoming season but with a new head coach who knows what will happen in the bay. Kevin Kolb would be a major upgrade for the 49ers. With Crabtree the 49ers would have a major weapon for Kolb to throw to so its not like Kolb would be without a weapon. With the 49ers being in the NFC West acquiring Kolb would make them the favorites again. I don't think that the 49ers will trade for Kolb with them drafting Colin Kaepernick out of Nevada.
Joe Webb did good in the last 3 games of the season last year, but Joe Webb isn't the franchise QB that the Vikings want. The Vikings have weapons in Minnesota so acquiring Kolb would put them right back at the top where they were when Favre was healthy and throwing good. I don't think that it is likely that the Vikings trade for Kolb with them drafting Christian Ponder out of Florida State.
The Seahawks will likely not resign veteran QB Matt Hasselback. With Charlie Whitehurst on the team they still have a need at QB as he will serve as the backup to whomever they go and get in either a trade or free agency. Seattle doesn't have many weapons for a QB to throw to which isn't good when they are trying to get a QB in rainy Seattle. I believe Seattle fans would love to have Kolb but I don't think the Seattle ownership will want to give up what Philadelphia will want for him.
The Cardinals know that having a good QB is all they need. When the Cardinals had Kurt Warner, he lead them to the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history. The Cardinals have one of the best receivers in the NFL in Larry Fitzgerald. Fitz has pushed team management to try and get Kolb once the lockout has ended. Fitz and Kolb worked out together this offseason which is a plus for the Cardinals. If the Cardinals acquire Kolb, the NFC West won't be as bad this upcoming season with the Rams and Cardinals leading the way out west. I actually think the Cardinals will try at all costs to get Kevin Kolb from Philly.
