Sam Stout is finally on the cusp of the top ten in the UFC lightweight division

Let me first say this, Sam Stout has been scheduled for his next fight and I am stoked about it. It was announced last week that he will take on top 10 bubble boy and German Dennis Siver on October 29 in Las Vegas.

It is a solid matchup for both guys and it's a logical next fight. Siver is coming off a close decision win against Matt Wiman. Stout has beaten Wiman by decision as well, and is of course coming off his highlight knockout win over veteran Yves Edwards.

Stout was quoted today in an article on saying he believes a win over Siver puts him in the top 10 in the world for the first time in his career.

"He's a top 10 guy in my opinion, I think that puts me definitely in the top 10 if I beat Dennis Siver. That's the way I feel and that's the way I hope the UFC head honchos see it."

I hope so too.

Here's my beef and it is my beef alone, but there are two guys out there that I want Sammy to fight badly and Siver is not one of them. The first fight I have been waiting a while for is the undisputed Canadian Lightweight title and that fight is against Mark Bocek.

Bocek has been the No. 1-ranked lightweight in Canada for a while now and I have never felt it was deserved. When and if that fight ever happens, I will be taking Stout.

I have debated endlessly with guys up here who say Bocek's jiu jitsu would simply be too much for Stout, but I feel he would fare just fine. I asked Sam about that fight in an interview in Vancouver and he had the perfect answer.

"Yeah it would be kinda cool to see who is No. 1 up here and if the UFC were to ever want that fight, you know I'd be up for it." He mentioned he knows Mark with the sport being so small and both being from Canada. I want that fight soon and I want it in Canada.

The other fight I want for Sam is against Donald "The Cowboy" Cerrone, but we'll get to that one some other time.
