Lake County Fielders Video: Radio Announcer Goes CM Punk in on-Air Resignation
There's a Lake County Fielders video making the rounds today, after play-by-play announcer Qumar Zaman delivered a call for the ages in his on-air resignation from announcing duties with the club.
The Independent League team was taking on Jose Canseco's Yuma Scorpions on Tuesday night, and had already delivered one of the strangest games in baseball history.
New manager Pete LaCock (actual name) sent the Fielders out with a lineup card consisting completely and totally of pitchers, while the rotation consisted entirely of position players. That's because the roster had essentially been dismantled the afternoon prior, as half of the Fielders' roster quit, along with then-manager Tim Johnson over a payroll dispute.

Report: Knicks Watch Party Shut Down
Not to be outdone in the crazy things happening in a baseball game department, Canseco and the Scorpions happily delivered a screwball lineup of their own, complete with Canseco pitching, and former Rays speedster Joey Gathright lining up at catcher for the first time in his career.
Naturally, LaCock quit after the game as well, and the rest of the club's roster has since been either released or traded. So, it stands to reason that with so many disenfranchised were needing a voice, Zaman would give us a very similar speech to the one used by CM Punk just a few weeks earlier in one of the best moments in WWE history.
He even references the Money In the Bank Pay-Per-View showdown Punk took part in over the weekend, while simultaneously detailing all of the financial issues the club has gone through over the last year or so.
In fact, from the sound of it, managing partner Rich Ehrenreich isn't really paying anyone the money they're owed, making Zaman's decision to reference CM Punk in his resignation speech even more perfect.
Thank you, Qumar, for giving us one of the greatest exit speeches we've seen in at least two weeks. Way to be the voice of the voiceless (except for the guys who gave statements to the press and sued Ehrenreich, which is pretty much everyone associated with the team), and give us a classic speech sure to go down in viral video history.
