Vince McMahon Fired: Now That McMahon Is Gone, These Wrestlers Need to Step Up
While the WWE Universe continues to remain abuzz over Vince McMahon (yes, he was FIRED!) being relieved of his duties within the company, I cannot help but wonder what happens to wrestlers, as they had been hand-picked by Vinnie Mac himself to be flag bearers for the company.
I have also looked at both rosters on RAW and SmackDown and get the sense some talented athletes need to pick up their game—if they plan on remaining within the brand.
Whether this is a work (and I think it is) or not, Vinnie Mac will still have his finger on the pulse of professional wrestling. And with that, he will add his advice on how to make "his" babies better for the fans and for television.
It also remains to be seen if Triple H (who does need a heel turn to legitimacy to the recent events) will be in the captain's chair long enough to make serious changes to the company and its brands. Or will Vinnie Mac be back in charge after SummerSlam when his batteries are recharged?
Either way, what happens to these wrestlers now that changes are going to be made?
Mason Ryan
1 of 5He is rumored to have a character change coming. Now that his "boss" CM Punk is no longer in the company, it is time for this Batista-look alike to show he is more than just brawn.
Ryan can be a solid, if not spectacular, competitor in the WWE and should benefit from actual matches where he has to rely on his talents like he did in CWF.
He could challenge Ezekiel Jackson for the Intercontinental Title or be put in a program with Sheamus.
Ted DiBiase
2 of 5Another guy who is rumored to have a change in character coming.
This guy might be the most talented guy on the WWE roster. Remember, McMahon brought his daddy in and Ted DiBiase Sr. bought the WWE championship.
If DiBiase turns face (which I expect he will when he feuds with Cody Rhodes), we will see his true ability.
Drew McIntyre
3 of 5Is it just me, or are we all waiting for something to happen from McIntyre?
Being touted as the future of the company does not cut it in this business. Actions speak louder than words. There has to be something this guy can do besides cut a halfway decent promo, look good with long hair and wrestle mid-card matches.
He has the look and the ability, now let's see how they use him for the time being. If he had gotten a push in MITB, a change to RAW and placement in the title tournament, we could see his greatness.
But right now, I just don't see it.
David Otunga
4 of 5He has the worst microphone skills I have ever heard.
He looks like a brick on two legs, and his wrestling is stiff, if not mechanical.
Otunga has a decent mean look to him, but please, he is more famous for his wife than anything else.
He is someone who could be taken off the roster, and no one would notice.
Jack Swagger
5 of 5He was put into the eight-man title tournament last week but did not fair well.
Swagger's biggest claim lately has been to challenge veterans and Hall of Famers in the ring, adding to his "cred."
This is not the legend killer, and he certainly needs a bigger role in the company. His amateur skills are the best in the company right now, and they should be used properly.
He is no Jack Brisco. And he is certainly no Kurt Angle.
