Vince McMahon: Is Triple H the WWE's Saving Grace?

After one of the most well-produced pay-per-views in the last 10 years, Vince McMahon is looking to build on the hype created by the Money in the Bank show and CM Punk’s departure from the company.

Defending champion John Cena was supposed to send Punk out of the company with a loss at Money in the Bank, but the pending free agent wrestler shocked the WWE and took the WWE World Title.

To force the issue that Punk really did quit the WWE, they were forced to not show him on the first Raw after the PPV. While this usually means the crowd losing their minds in rejection of the terrible angle, Vinny Mac had a bigger card up his sleeve.

McMahon decided the only way to divert the attention off the CM Punk hype was to have all the best stars on the Raw brand compete and then make himself the focal point at the end. It was supposed to be the firing of Cena that people expected, but there was more to it.

When Triple H’s music broke, the angle became clear, and McMahon’s future became very obvious. There had been talk about McMahon wanting more time off, and it would be a natural progression to bring a huge presence back like Triple H to take the heat.

It’s a flawless move because Triple H’s career is still fresh in people’s minds, and he has the pop to make him a heel leader or face leader. As good as he will be as the new character of Triple H, it will be the impact he has backstage that will garnish real changes.

With the in-ring quality being subpar for some time, the fact that Triple H will be directly in charge of quality control will force these wrestlers to bring their A-game every night. We saw in the Cena-Punk match at Money in the Bank that Cena can be a great wrestler—when he wants to be.

Another aspect of the wrestling game that Triple H can help with will be the mic skills of the top stars on each show. He will be able to employ the most talent wrestlers in the business to come in and teach the new stars how to be superstars.

While Triple H has looked like a tool for becoming a McMahon, he still has his finger on the pulse of the sport, and his relationships with the biggest names in the business will only further the quality of product WWE produces.
