American Century Championship 2011 Will Air Live on NBC

The 2011 American Century Championship began Friday, July 15th and runs through Sunday, July 17th featuring celebrities from around the country.

The tournament is taking place in Lake Tahoe, Nevada at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.  The tournament features over 80 different celebrities including the likes of Carson Palmer, Michael Jordan, Tim Tebow, Tony Romo and Ray Romano.

The official charity for the event is the Lance Armstrong Foundation, whose goal is to grow awareness of cancer and help with cancer survivor initiatives.

The total purse for this year hit a record high of $600,000 with the first place winner taking $125,000.  The event may not feature the best golfers in the world, but there is no doubt there will be some memorable moments at the American Century Championship.

Former NFL quarterback Billy Joe Tolliver will be looking to defend his title at the American Century Championship and win his fourth ever title.  Rick Rhoden, former MLB All-Star, will also be taking part in the event.  Rhoden is the eight-time winner of the event and will be looking to take the title back from Tolliver.
