British Open Golf 2011:Tom Watson's Ace on the 6th
Never has golf seemed so timeless. Ā The 61-year-old Tom Watson captivated the gallery at the par-3 6th with a magical seven-iron shot. Ā Watson playing with 20-year-old Tom Lewis (who was named after Watson) continues to dazzle the golf world on Day 2 at the Open Championship.
He may not have the same bold putting stroke that allowed him to duel Jack Nicklaus and Seve Ballesteros in the 1970's and 1980's, but he returned to the home of golf to compete. Ā There seems to be no riding off in the sunset yet for Watson. Ā
A player that has endeared himself to the British fans for five decades,Watson has eight major championships on his resume, including five Open Championships, two Green jackets, and one U.S. Open. The PGA Championship is the only major that has escaped him.
One Swing
1 of 1There seems to be a step in his stride on Day 2 at the Open Championship. Ā Watson bows to the crowd after his tee-shot on the sixth hole. He is currently one-under on his round and safely above the cut-line for the weekend. Ā
