WWE Money in the Bank 2011: My Predictions
With Money in the Bank now less than a week away, I'm going to go ahead and make my predictions for what's going to go down.Ā
Although unfortunately I am a bit of a cynic when it comes to the WWE, I'm thinking that Money in the Bank has been the best built Pay Per View of the year, and they've definitely left plenty of doors open to shock up.
But anyway, here goes.
Kelly Kelly vs Brie Bella: Diva's Championship
1 of 7Really WWE?
Whenever I see a diva's championship match, I immediately wonder why on earth talent such as Natalya, Beth Phoenix and Gail Kim are no longer being featured as premier contenders.
Yes Kelly Kelly is very attractive, yes she reminds a few people slightly of Trish Stratus. But do we really need to see 3 minutes of poor "wrestling", followed by a roll up by K2 for the win?
Prediction - Kelly Kelly retains.
Mark Henry vs The Big Show
2 of 7Mark Henry's recent change in attitude has had me really captivated.Ā
His annihilation of the Big Show during/after that steel cage match on Raw Roulette was brilliant. They way they portrayed him as an unstable beast, shouting at the officials and telling them not to help Show was well done.
As bad as I think the WWE are with ruining promising characters (See R Truth, Wade Barrett), I don't think they'll make Henry lose this early.
Winner - Mark Henry
World Heavyweight Championship: Randy Orton(c) vs Christian
3 of 7Yet another match in this series. The match at Capitol Punishment didn't deliver as well as their previous matches did, but that was presumably due to Orton's concussion that he was wrestling with.
I'm expecting another high quality match, although the way the odds seemed to be in Christian's favour this time only lead me to believe that Super Orton will prevail.
The Title will change hands if Christian is on the receiving end of bad officiating, and I presume that means if Orton is DQ'd as well.
Christian will probably try to get himself screwed in order for him to take the title off of Orton. And a lot of people have been saying that they think Sheamus will be added to the match. I disagree, and think that it will just be a straight one on one.
Ultimately, Christian will fall to an out-of-nowhere RKO, as per usual.
Winner - Randy Orton.
WWE Championship: John Cena vs CM Punk
4 of 7Now then, perhaps the most thought provoking main event of the year, maybe even since the attitude era itself.
The buzz created ever since Punk's historic worked shoot promo has been nothing short of unbelievable. With theories flying out left right and centre, is Punk staying, leaving, winning the title, being Cena-Squashed, and many others, myself and the rest of the WWE universe simply cannot wait for this.
Up until the latest Raw this Monday, I was firmly in the camp of the Super Cena miracle comeback, which now apparently includes being able to turn Lil Jimmy's water into concentrated hydrochloric acid.
But with Mr McMahon's continued involvement in the storyline, I'm thinking that just maybe, Vinnie Mack is going to be involved, possibly even on CM Punk's side.Ā
But right now, I'm going to go for one of the more popular outcomes that has been suggested.
I think that CM Punk is going to win, whatever way, and then he's going to be cashed in on by the Raw MITB winner.
Outcome - CM Punk wins, only to lose the title to the MITB winner.
Raw Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
5 of 7Lets face it, there is only going to be one outcome here.
As soon as Alberto Del Rio was included in this match, we knew what was coming. He's clearly being groomed for the WWE Title, and this is the way he's going to get on track for it.Ā
Evan Bourne, Rey Mysterio, and Jack Swagger are purely in there as fillers. Bourne and Rey will provide some Holy Sh!t moments, more than likely in the form of an Air Bourne from a ladder.
The Miz and Alex Riley effectively cancel each other out, as their feud at the moment would be ruined if one of them were to gain the briefcase. Alex Riley is nowhere near ready for the main event yet.
R-Truth is more than likely being readied for a feud with the returning John Morrison. My bold prediction for the event is that John Morrison is going to return and cost Truth the briefcase, furthering Truth's conspiracy theory.
Kofi Kingston is my second favourite. I believe he's shown improvement on the mic, and he no longer has a tier 2 title holding him down. Randy Orton is no longer a threat now that he's on the blue brand. Kofi could be back on his way to the main event.
However, I know it, you know it, it's going to be Del Rio. And he's walking out as the WWE Champion after cashing in on Punk.
Winner and ultimately new WWE Champion - Alberto Del Rio.
Smackdown Money in the Bank Ladder Match
6 of 7This could potentially be the most disappointing match of the night.
Before Sheamus was added to this match, I was so excited. Cody Rhodes and Wade Barrett had massive chances to win the match, and almostĀ guaranteeĀ themselves to become the next World Heavyweight Champion.
However, as I said at the start of the article, I'm a cynic when it comes to the WWE. And the same with the Raw MITB, it looks awfully predictable.Ā
If Sheamus wins this match, I will be disgusted. He's planted himself into a potential feud with Orton and Christian already. Why take an opportunity to build a star in the way of Rhodes or Barret, or even Daniel Bryan.
And unfortunately I do believe that Sheamus is going over in this one.
Cody Rhodes will probably feud for the Intercontinental Title, and Wade will probably still be stuck in mid card purgatory. And unfortunately for Daniel Bryan, as much as I adore him, it looks like Vince isn't too high on him as a wrestlers, therefore probably is going to be stuck out of the main event scene.
Winner - Sheamus
Conclusion
7 of 7This Pay-Per-View could be absolutely top class or it could be yet another boring predictable waste of money, which is the way this year's PPV's have gone.
On the one hand, a perfect scenario could be:
Punk Defeating Cena with the help of Mr. McMahon, keeping the title and resigning with the company. Ā Ā Ā Ā
Christian defeating Randy Orton reasonably cleanly for the title.
Wade Barrett, Daniel Bryan or Cody Rhodes winning the Smackdown MITB.
Kofi Kingston, R Truth or Evan Bourne winning the Raw MITB.
However, a card of:
Super Cena defeating Punk
Super Orton defeating Christian with yet another RKO from nowhere
Sheamus and ADR winning their respective MITB's,
Would be awful.
There's my two cents, I'm still pretty green to writing on Bleacher Report about the WWE, so be nice to me :) Constructive criticism always welcome however!
