Maynard, who was scheduled to face Frankie Edgar at UFC 132, injured himself during training camp that forced him to withdraw from the bout.

In addition to Maynard, Edgar has also been cleared to train, and both competitors could be ready in October, possibly for UFC 136

Maynard said he is content to fight on the UFC 136 card, which is slated for Houston, Texas.

"Houston makes sense, but I don't know if that's what the UFC wants," he said.

Both men fought at UFC 125 earlier this year that resulted in a draw, forcing UFC president Dana White to evoke an immediate rematch.
