UFC 133: Jon Jones Talks Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis and Predicts Evans To Win
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones has been on the shelf since sustaining a hand injury when he crushed Mauricio “Shogun” Rua for the 205-pound title back in March.
Bones has remained in the public eye, doing a mock public service announcement regarding his next opponent, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, as well as starring in commercials for Bud Light and K Swiss.
However, Jones recently spoke to Dustin Green from The Fight Fix about the UFC 133 main event, where Rashad Evans takes on Phil Davis.

Evans, a former Jackson’s MMA teammate of Jones, has been gunning for another shot at the light heavyweight title for approximately six months.
Jones and Evans were actually expected to cross paths at UFC 133, but Jones’ hand injury prevented him from being fight ready by August.
Additionally, Evans was the original opponent of Shogun at UFC 128, but had to withdraw due to a knee injury he suffered during training.
The 23-year-old New York native had little sympathy for Evans' recent luck in fighting for the title, attributing his situation to impatience, as opposed to bad luck.
“Rashad could've been fightin' me, but he was impatient. He decided to take a [non-title] fight against Phil Davis instead of waiting.
“[He] should've been patient and he would'a been fightin' me soon, but things happen. He lost his #1 contendership, but that's something that he decided to do. So it's whatever."
The bad blood that exists between Evans and Jones is well known at this point, so Jones’ stance on Evans' recent predicament should not be too shocking.
Nevertheless, those expecting Jones to write off Evans would be mistaken. Jones actually predicts Evans to beat Davis at UFC 133, and even took a slight shot at “Mr. Wonderful” after being complementary towards him.
"I met Phil Davis. I think he's a great guy. I think he's great for the sport. But I also think he doesn't like to get hit.”
On an interesting related note, the current UFC.com poll states that “on average, Davis only absorbs 0.38 strikes per minute.”
Jones continued, “I think Rashad Evans' experience might get him through this fight, but I think it’s gonna be a good fight. If Rashad takes him lightly, you never know what can happen.
"If Phil Davis makes it a wrestling match, I think his odds will be a little stronger. I'm not rooting for anyone. I think they're both fair individuals. Phil's a good guy, but if I had to put my money on it I would go with Rashad Evans. Definitely."
So despite all their personal issues, Jones gives “Suga” the endorsement over Davis when it’s all said and done.
Jones defends his title for the first time against Quinton Jackson at UFC 135, which takes place at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado on September 24.
