Michigan Expected to Get Visits from Two 4-Star Defensive Tackles Soon

Zach DirlamJun 7, 2018

Chris Balas, an administrator for The Fort on TheWolverine.com, reported last night that 4-star defensive tackles Ondre Pipkins (Kansas City, MO) and Danny O'Brien (Flint, MI) will visit Michigan before the end of the month.

The two 2012 prospects are expected to attend the barbecue at the Big House on July 31.

O'Brien, who is the No. 222 overall prospect and No. 17 defensive tackle according to Rivals.com, will take visits to Florida, Alabama and Tennessee before attending the Ann Arbor event with his friend and Michigan commit Matt Godin (Novi, MI).

Pipkins is the No. 246 overall prospect and No. 19 defensive tackle on Rivals.com and has Michigan on his list of potential suitors, which he narrowed down to seven last month. Pipkins is also considering Tennessee, Alabama, Oklahoma, Missouri, Oregon and Florida.

Michigan is likely to only pick up one of these highly touted defensive tackles though. Michigan already has 19 verbal commitments (Technically 20, but safety commit Jeremy Clark will grayshirt if the Wolverines get a total of 25 commitments), and they are likely only going to use two of their remaining spots in the 2012 class for defensive linemen.

Three-star defensive end prospect Chris Wormley (Toledo, OH) has been a longtime Michigan lean and could announce his expected commitment to the Wolverines any day now, which could speed up the decisions of O'Brien and Pipkins.

The Toledo Blade reported Ohio State is still in the running for Wormley, but the Whitmer High School standout tabbed the Wolverines as his top school at the moment.

"Right now, it's Michigan," Wormley said. "It was real nice up there. All of the coaches made me feel real comfortable."

Wormley may opt to take some more unofficial visits for the time being but does not expect to make his decision any later then the first game of his senior season in late August.
