Ohio State De-Commit Kyle Kalis Commits to Michigan After Visit
The Michigan Wolverines coaching staff knew their recruitment of 4-star offensive tackle Kyle KalisĀ (Lakewood, OH) paid off when he decided to return to Ann Arbor with his family this weekend for his second visit in two weeks.
Sunday afternoon, the St. Edward High School star, who de-committed from Ohio State on June 22, gave the Wolverines a verbal commitment to end the rumors and speculation surrounding his recruitment. Kalis confirmed his commitment with staff members ofĀ TheWolverine.com
Kalis is the the No. 18 overall prospect and No. 4 offensive tackle, according to Rivals.com. The Ohio native is listed at 6'5" and 302 pounds. and is the 19th prospect to verbally commit to Michigan for their 2012 recruiting class.
Kalis joins an already strong class of offensive linemen who have committed to play at Michigan in 2012.Ā
The Wolverines now have commitments from Kalis, 4-star tackleĀ Blake BarsĀ (Nashville, TN), No. 34 overall prospect and No. 8 offensive tackleĀ Erik MagnusonĀ (Carlsbad, CA), 3-star tackleĀ Ben BradenĀ (Rockford, MI) and 3-star guardĀ Caleb StaceyĀ (Cincinnati, OH).Ā
The Wolverines now have six scholarships left for their class of 2012 and will most likely take one more offensive lineman.Ā
This will likely speed up the recruitment process of 4-star offensive tackle and Michigan lean Jordan DiamondĀ (Chicago, IL). The Simeon High School standout decided earlier this weekĀ he will take visitsĀ to some of the other schools he is interested in.Ā
Diamond, who is the No. 209 overall prospect on Rivals.com, has expressed more then just an interest in playing at Michigan, so we could see him make a commitment soon.
If the Wolverines do not pick up Diamond, they still have offers out to other top notch offensive linemen who are interested in playing in Ann Arbor.
Four-star offensive tackle and No. 22 overall prospect,Ā Joshua GarnettĀ (Puyallup, WA), and 4-star offensive tackleĀ Zach BannerĀ (Lakewood, WA) are both expected to make official visits to Michigan in the fall.
Five-star offensive tackleĀ Andrus PeatĀ (Tempe, AZ) and 4-star offensive tackleĀ Adam BisnowatyĀ (Pittsburgh, PA) have also shown an interest in playing for the Wolverines.
Check back this week for any quotes or comments Kyle Kalis makes about his recent commitment to Michigan.
