Alabama Football: Eddie Goldman Is the No.1 Defensive Tackle and Saban Wants Him
Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer) Eddie Goldman is the nation's No. 1 defensive tackle and is so for a reason. His size, strength and heady instincts make him a person who can simply blow up any offense line and create havoc in the backfield.
He's 6'4'', 312 pounds and quick. He hails from the nation's capital, the District of Columbia, and currently plays for Friendship Collegiate Academy. He has a 3.0 GPA and should have no problem getting into any school.
Right now, the only problem is deciding on one.
He has only narrowed his list down to 15 schools right now, and while it's good for Alabama fans that he has them on that list, it's bad that there are so many others still remaining in the hunt.
Nick Saban would love to land this big fish and put him in a crimson uniform and he's hoping that the presence of his high school coach, Coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim of Friendship Academy, at a summer camp will help. Maybe Abdul-Rahim will see that Alabama is the place for Goldman and pass that on.
Goldman, a 5-star No. 1 defensive lineman recruit in the U.S. and the No. 3 overall recruit, currently squats over 500 pounds and has the physical package to arrive on campus and be an immediate help to any team.
Goldman is having a busy summer. He's had visits to South Carolina and Tennessee and in July will do Florida State, Alabama and Auburn.
While Goldman does expect to pare his list down by the end of July or early August, he has yet to say how far down he will pare it or who is favorites on that list will be.
Saban has done well pulling in top athletes from all over the country, and this is one that could help Alabama come up with another top three class.
Goldman is expected to wait until at or near National Signing Day to commit.
