TNA: My Thoughts on Last Night's Impact on What Will Happen at Destination X
Am I the only one that expected more last night from Impact?
After a week of building up to what should have been a powerful and poignant moment in TNA history and the start of some great things toward Destination X, I was left wondering if something was left on the table, or if something was missing from the program.
And for all the hard work that the writers and the promotion had done to get on solid footing with television and the fans, I felt like the company took a step backward last night.

Maybe they overstepped in trying to bring in too many elements to a show that should have been highlighted by the āFour Cornersā match with RVD, AJ Styles, Daniels and Jerry Lynn.Ā It fell a little short.
While the action was fierce and the idea was great, I thought the match was short. It should have been in the final segment of the show, which would have been the last thing people remembered going into Destination X. And because of its importance to the show, the brand and the fans, we should have seen more combat between Daniels and Styles.
I understand the program and the brand are currently centered around Mr. Anderson, Immortal, Sting and the fight for control in TNA. These are WCW-like moments, but we are not seeing the share with other wrestlers, other than Kurt Angle, like in the past.
The attack on Sting last night was great, but we have seen it before and there is usually another subplot with it like: āWhere is Sting?ā The fact Angle asked him if he knew what he was doing last night only confirmed that this angle needs more depth.
I like the idea of an NWO-like faction in the organization. It works well. But the company needs to re-brand Fortune and find some way to have a member of Immortal turn, and the only one right now that has kind of popularity with the fans to make such a move is Gunner.
Ideally, I want to see a battle of five members of Immortal taking on five faces. Bully Ray, Anderson, Gunner, Abyss and Steiner taking on the likes of Sting, Angle, AJ Styles, Kazarian and Bobby Roode. But again, things must change.
As for the rest of the program, I am very impressed with Crimson and how he is running through great competition in the Bound for Glory Series. Roode may be injured, but he still put on a decent performance last night. Crimson is just plain mean and his power cannot be matched by many.
I think at some point he has a heel change in his future (to offset Gunner?). Or, if he is the future of this company, then he jumps into the spotlight to challenge Immortal.
The Pope/Devon vs. Storm/Morgan matchup confused me. I want to see where this goes with Pope and Devon. We have seen this before, but there are no teeth in it yet.
Pope is too talented for this angle. Devon is older and toward the end of his rope, and of course, this does not have enough teeth in it yet. We have seen this type of thing before in wrestling, but it needs more depth and fast. Storm and Morgan looked like a mismatch from the beginning and although it was a random selection, it was ill-conceived.
And props go out to my girl Velvet Sky. Beating ODB and Jackie was great, but it will not get ODB off the television screen any time soon. She is good for ratings, and the feud has become something of a staple of the program for now.
