Liverpool is in a good place going into this transfer window. They have new owners with ambition of making the club one that is contending for the Premier League Title once again and a manager in Kenny Dalglish who has the Reds supporters’ faith.

Those two are a lethal combination and Liverpool has their eyes on adding to their squad to get them back to where they know they belong.

Here is a list of five players that the Reds seem Adamant about getting.

Charlie Adam

Charlie Adam is just on the verge of being signed, sealed, and delivered. Liverpool started their pursuit of the tangerines captain in January.

They had the determination to not take no for an answer.

They instead listened to Charlie Adam and the situation of his former team. Charlie wanted to stay in the Premier League and why not with how much quality he shows on the field.

Blackpool got relegated and the team could no longer provide Charlie Adam with top flight football and Liverpool saw the situation and knew they could real him in.

He is a leader who helped a small club many did not believe could make it in the Premier League play some of the most attractive football of the last campaign.

He has a spark that can bring the miraculous at time but his hardnosed mentality is what Liverpool is really looking for.

As of today their hard work has paid off and the persistence they have shown to get Charlie Adam has landed him at Anfield.

Stewart Downing

Stewart Downing has been a similar story to Charlie Adam this offseason. The Reds have made numerous bids for the Aston Villa man but Villa has agreed none of them to.

Their patience and persistence has not paid off yet but if there is anything that can be learned from the Charlie Adam story it is that the Reds are a team that are going to get the players that they want.

Stewart Downing remains just a rumour for now.

He is a quality player that many fans do not see eye to eye about. Some feel he is way overrated and other seem to think he is underrated.

The facts are he is a player that can send in good service from the wings and has a high work rate, which has him finding himself in lethal positions during games.

Do the Reds need him?

They do not necessarily need him because of their depth across the midfield but he is a player that can offer something to the club and it makes senses that they are going for the English international.

Doni

Doni is the Roma goalkeeper who is being pursued for the sole reason of being Pepe Reina’s back up.

So why is Liverpool so adamant about a keeper who is going to be their number two?

Well, it is a position on their roster they have been trying to fill since the transfer window opened.

First they were rumoured to be going for Brad Friedel, which did not pan out because he chose to go to Tottenham where he can be the clubs number one.

Doni was turned to next and Roma and Liverpool agreed to terms but the Reds could not get personal terms agreed on with the keeper.

Doni reportedly reopened the deal and the process has started again.

Doni is an athletic Brazilian keeper. He is a very solid keeper who from time to time does make the occasional mistake.

He fits the role as Liverpool’s number two.

Juan Mata

Juan Mata is the talented winger/ midfielder who plays for Valencia.

He is great on the ball and does not force the ball into bad spots. He picks his pass and can also create his own shot.

Mata has been a target of numerous teams but Liverpool has seemed to be coming out as the leader in recent weeks.

They are going to have to pay £15m to land the midfielder.

He can add something to any club he plays for and would do so at Liverpool but with Alberto Aquilani likely rejoining the Reds this season are the two too similar to play on the field together the answer is no.

Aquilani has many of the same qualities but he will likely feather in the center while Mata will likely be placed out on the wings.

The Liverpool midfield would get that much deeper with the addition of Mata. Dalglish will have to play his cards carefully to get all his best players on the field at the same time and not let any egos get hurt if they are not.

Michel Bastos

Michel Bastos has recently started to pick up steam as a rumour and for good reason. Bastos can play on the left wing and as a left back.

The ability to play as a left back is something that Liverpool should really explore if they sign Bastos because they need a left back.

The Reds look at Bastos who plays as a left back for his national team but they are not thinking yet about him as a left back but instead as a possible signing if they do not get Stuart Downing.

The story has recently started to pick up steam and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool will press even more for his signature.
