Kevin Love Rookie Of The Year..... Not So Fast

   Kevin love worked out for the Timberwolves days prior to the NBA Draft. Kevin Mchale was so impressed that he swapped him for O.J. Mayo on Draft day.

   The Wolves just selected Mayo with the 3rd overall pick but Mchale wanted Kevin Love. The Grizzlies selected Love 5th overall, The two teams eventually swapped players.

   The Wolves would get Love, along with Love the wolves got Mike Miller. Miller may be the player to contribute the most. The Grizzlies would get Mayo and Marko Jaric among others.

   Fast forward to opening night of the NBA, Love did not start but still played 18 1/2 minutes. Love was impressive, looking like he belonged in the NBA. Love scored 12 points and 9 rebounds, with him on the court the wolves were plus 20.

   Mayo took the court the same night. His stats were unimpressive to say the least. He was 5 for 20 from the field, he was also 0 for 9 from three. Mayo is a jump shooter, but his opening night stats seemed to prove otherwise.

   For fans you would look at this and say " The Wolves made the right choice." That statement may prove to be true IN TIME. It was only opening night. Love was impressive, Mayo not so much. While you can't determine a trade by one game, it may show what is to come.

   After the game Love was mentioned as the leader for the Rookie Of the Year Award.That statement may be a bit premature, as it is impossible to tell so early. The top 5 picks of the draft also had quiet nights, Derrick Rose had 9 assists, Micheal Beasly  had 9 points also decent, as Russel Westbrook the number 4 overall pick had 13 points and 4 assists.

   Love had one of the best stat lines leading to Rookie of the Year talk. It is possible but hey give it a little time, if Love is as good as his first game than he deserves it. There is still 81 games left and anything can happen.
