WWE Money in the Bank: Why The Miz Will Win the 8-Man Ladder Match
The time has now come people...time to pick YOUR favorite to win the RAW Money In The Bank ladder match in less than two weeks.
Let's see who we have in the red brand's match this year:
Kofi Kingston
Jack Swagger
Evan Bourne
Alberto Del Rio
Alex Riley
R-Truth
Rey Mysterio
The Miz
The "Awesome One" is the winner of last year's edition, and like previous winners, he cashed in with success and held the WWE championship for a little more than five months.
A very good accomplishment considering most title reigns lately never go past three months.
When I looked at this about two weeks ago, I never expected to say this today in this article:
The Miz will pull an upset and tie CM Punk as the winner of the Money in the Bank briefcase two years in a row!
It is quite simple actually.
I have read and studied countless articles on the subject and while many opted to have Del Rio win, I was going for Kofi Kingston or Evan Bourne even because I sensed it would cause quite the uproar.
This past Monday, we witnessed how Alberto Del Rio became the new No. 1 contender, but we also had CM Punk being reinstated into his title match in less than two weeks.
I am certain the Mexican aristocrat will moan and bitch about being cheated of his destiny once again but you know what? CM Punk is legitimately leaving the company, why would they have him win the title now?
Del Rio can go fight John Cena at SummerSlam as expected and all is well in the world.
Having him carry the briefcase AND be in the title match makes no sense to me right now.
That leaves us with this RAW ladder match and some more logical participants.
You can forget about R-Truth, Jack Swagger and Alex Riley.
The first two are fillers and Riley is way to green to have this kind of responsibility thrust upon him so soon.
Alex my boy, start by finishing off whatever you have with The Miz (if it is not over already) and head towards the United States championship and Dolph Ziggler. Baby steps please! You are not THAT over!
Rey Mysterio? Honestly, this is the direction I could see The Miz heading if he DOESN'T win. I would truly enjoy a feud between the two. Even more if it would be for the WWE championship.
Who is left? Kofi, Miz and Bourne.
I found it VERY difficult to decide as I feel they are the only viable candidates to come out of Chicago with the grand prize.
It's not for nothing we just recently started to actually hear Evan and Kofi speak PLUS we had that Miz meltdown on Monday. All factors we need to consider.
I had picked Kofi Kingston at first to be honest because I figure it is time for him to make it or just leave. The mid-card scene? That's quite enough I think.
No more Kofi-Ziggler matches...please!
Evan "Air" Bourne I have always liked. He is great. The real tragedy here is the fact he has never touched gold in the company and that is a shame but to have him become the top champion, I just can't imagine that nor do I want him to be the first guy to lose a cash in.
That is like "The Streak." Should ANYONE lose after cashing in the MITB? You decide.
The title seems to be headed in a "heel" direction so having a "face" as the winner makes sense and besides, when was the last time a good guy won?
The time may have come for both Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne.
HOWEVER, in my heart, as a true Miz fan I was rooting for my guy and now it all changed and can definitely claim the most must-see WWE champion in history WILL be the winner.
He has as much a chance as anyone and with all these setbacks, he needs something big to propel him back to the top.
CM Punk leaving seems locked in and so we would need a new "main heel" on RAW. From what I hear and read from most people, Alberto Del Rio doesn't cut it.
He can have his match at SummerSlam all he wants but when it is all said and done, The Miz could re-establish himself as the top evil force and reclaim the coveted belt and at the same time upset Cena and Del Rio.
A few weeks ago, I couldn't have imagined such a scenario because I assumed like most people, Miz would have won at least ONE match against Alex Riley.
I also assumed, like most people, they would cost each other's chances at MITB and finish off their business at SummerSlam.
That seems not to be the case right now. A-Ri has the upper hand and The Miz has fallen into a slump.
The bright side: He has developed a new and improved "Killer" attitude.
He was very impressive and EXpressive this past Monday and that totally changed my point of view on the whole thing.
He just has to win now. It would mean so much to his career not to mention the whole main event scene on RAW.
In a way, it could also serve to catapult someone like Kofi Kingston right into the main scene as a feud with either Del Rio or Miz could truly be something new and interesting.
***Mind you, everything could change should CM Punk surprise us all and re-sign.
We may be on to something here with all this freshness. Some guys starting to talk (Bourne, Kingston and Ziggler) and a top "heel" unveiling a more vicious side of his persona.
Some of you have become believers in The Miz as I am, you just have to read some other great articles on this sports website to realize this.
His supporters are everywhere!
On the 17th of July 2011, in Chicago Illinois, the winner of the RAW Money in the Bank briefcase will be:
Former WWE Champion The Miz.
It will be an awesome moment.
