2018 Winter Olympics: Will South Korea Host First Ever Winter Olympics?
The 2018 Winter Olympic games will take place in either Munich, Germany; Annecy, France or Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Both France and Germany have hosted Winter Olympic games in the past, but South Korea has never had the pleasure to host the Winter Olympics.
The International Olympic Committee will announce the winner later today. A secret ballot of 95 members picked a majority winner. Most people believe Pyeongchang will be the host city for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Pyeongchang has been the favorite in both early rounds of voting. They will have to obtain 48 percent of the votes to be named the host city for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Had there not been a majority winner today, the city with the least amount of votes would be eliminated, and the remaining two would have been placed in a second final ballot.
This would be a huge victory for South Korea. Vancouver of Canada and Sochi of Russia beat them out for the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics. A win today would make a lot of people happy because they have been trying for quite sometime to host the prestigious Olympic games.
The city of Pyeongchang has a population of of over 45,000, and if they are able to host the Olympics it would promote winter sports in Asia. The city has been building new venues in hopes to host the Winter Olympics over the last couple of years.
It's a beautiful city with many great mountain views that has long desired to be the host of the Winter Olympic games.
Munich has hosted the Summer Olympics before, which caused controversy. The International Olympic Committee may choose to drop Munich because of the past. Annecy has never hosted the Olympics, but three cities within an hour and half of Annecy have hosted the Winter Olympics in the past.
International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge will announce the winner at some point on Wednesday. The final pitches have been made, and now we wait to see who will win.
