Women's World Cup 2011 Video: USA's Heather O'Reilly Nails Deep Goal vs Colombia
Go ahead. If you have to play this back a few times in order to truly appreciate the beauty of the shot, then be my guest.
I wonโt be offended.
Honestly though, the USAโs Heather OโReilly boomed this kick in from way far out in the 12th minute of their second round match against Colombia, and in my opinion it all but sealed the Colombians' fate.

It only put the United States up one and it was very early, but hitting the top corner like she did at such a distance proved to be a huge momentum builder for the Americans.
You can go click play and watch it again. Itโs worth it.
I dare say that you wonโt be able to find a more impressive goal during the rest of the 2011 FIFA Womenโs World Cup. The offensive prowess that OโReilly showed shooting from right outside the box and hitting the top corner will definitely be celebrated, but letโs not lose sight of the great defense OโReilly displayed by intercepting the pass in the offensive end.
It would be easy to lose sight of defense in light of such a great shot.
Chat rooms started blowing up, Twitter was on fire and the soccer world took a minute to appreciate the beauty of the goal.
Megan Rapinoe scored the United States' second goal 50 minutes into the match and Carli Lloyd scored No. 3 seven minutes later.
Both of those goals were great for the United States and should go a huge way in advancing them in the 2011 FIFA Womenโs World Cup, but none was more impressive than Heather OโReillyโs bomb.
