All the Crosby Haters Need to Stop Their

For us Penguins fans, we get to see great talent play in every game that we are able to watch.  We get to see Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Letang and many others play.  Although by far, the one player that we all love to watch the most, is Sidney Crosby.

He is the face of the NHL, and a superstar already at his young age.  However, everybody else thinks that he is a "crybaby," and that he takes dives or tries to embellish plays in order to get penalties called.  Now in this article, I am going to be addressing all those people that like to think this.

First, you just need to get over the fact that you, as fans of other teams, do not have him.  It is all right. Us Penguin fans know you are all jealous that you do not have a phenom like Sidney on your team.

I'm not saying that teams do not have all-star players, but very few have ones that are as young and talented as Sid.  Your team does not have him and never will. So what is the only way you can attempt to make up for it?  Say the same things about him that your players do?

Here is a quote from an article written by Manic Ranger: "All Crosby managed to do was make a mockery of the game flopping all over the ice."  He was referring to the playoffs, when his team the New York Rangers, were just beat down by the Penguins.

One play I am sure he is referring to is when Sidney was going down the ice, and he was run into and held up by a Rangers player.  Now to me that is obstruction, and therefore a penalty.

If you want to watch the video you can find it on YouTube, and you can clearly see that Crosby's forward motion was hindered, not because he slipped or anything. However, you cannot hinder a player's skating when he does not have the puck. So Manic Ranger, before you decide to start raving and ranting about him, remember you have players on your team doing the same thing.

One other thing that I would like to point out to you is, people make it seem like he is the only player to ever try to get a penalty called, when there was no penalty.  Players do this all the time, and if you are good at it why not do it? I mean ask any player and they will tell you they would do almost anything to get a penalty called.

On top of this, every sport has players trying to get fouls called.  Soccer clearly has that happening, and football wide receivers embellish all the time, when they cannot get to a ball. This also clearly happens in basketball, where in almost every play somebody drives through the paint.

Now if you are still going to complain about this, then you need to take your anger out on the NHL, and the referees, because everybody that plays the game tries to get penalties called.

Back to Manic Ranger, and this will hopefully be the last time I have to quote him. This is what he also said about Crosby: "The best player in the NHL is Alex Ovechkin, hands down. It's not debatable either, compare the stats, Crosby has never scored more than 40 goals. Also Ovechkin is one of the most physical players in the NHL, while Crosby is regarded as a whiner who frequently embellishes hits and trips to draw attention and draw penalties."

All right, lets start with Ovechkin here.  I do not like him one bit, but I am not going to say he is not a great hockey player.  However, what makes a hockey player great?  So what if Crosby has never had a 40-goal season? Ovechkin has to have big numbers every year or the Capitals would be at the bottom.

Crosby has tons of assists; he actually just got his 200th assist the other night against the Maple Leafs.  Now for Manic Ranger: If you did not know, if you get an assist that means your team scored a goal.  To me that is just as important as actually being the one putting the puck in the net.

Next is the physical aspect.  So Ovechkin hits people, all right that is it?  Crosby will hit people too when he has to.  There is no reason for him to take runs at people like Ovechkin clearly does in games.  Crosby is a much smarter player: If you go and hit somebody you can take yourself out of the play, so that is a good reason why not to be so physical.

Finally, now to all you people who for some reason or another do not like, despise or down right hate Sidney Crosby like Manic Ranger.  We Penguin fans could care less, and more than likely neither does Sidney.

So sit down, and get ready to rave and rant a lot, because he is going to be around for a long time. And more than likely, he will make you eat all the words you say about him, because in the end you all know how great he is and that he can single handedly take control of games.
