Arsenal-Tottenham: After the Aftermath

Ashish WesleyJan 24, 2008

Ok so now the aftermath after the aftermath is, well, dying down. The result at White Hart Lane sits a lot better now.

It's probably the worst way to go out of the Carling Cup, but its just the Carling Cup anyhoo!

The biggest news today concerns the bust up between Adebayor, who has since apologised for the part he played and Nicklas Bendtner. Ade said-

ā€œOverall I think that we should have been more calm during the game and although I was pleased to get a goal back for the team when I came on, I am sorry for the disagreement with my teammate Nicklas.

ā€œWe are both passionate about this Club and sometimes that can be projected in the wrong way. It was a mistake. We want to focus on the games ahead and rely on our squad’s great togetherness to achieve a fantastic season.ā€

I know you all would have seen the vid of the incident and I do know that there is plenty of passion and players tend to lose it in the heat of battle and its tough sometimes to get a hold of yourself and keep calm and all that rot.

There's a piece here on the Gooner Forum Blog which speaks about this, and I believe there is some truth in it. I would never go as far as to term him a 'disgrace', but we here at Arsenal are of a certain class, a certain pedigree, the players and everyone involved need to understand this and uphold this.

Speaking of those involved at the club, I want to give a shout out to the traveling Gooners at White Hart lane the other day, they were excellent even with everything that went down, could still hear them sing. It must have been quite an ordeal to sit through right to the end, and I'm sure its one trip they won't forget in a hurry, that said it's probably something we wont have to experience for a good time to come!

The Daily Mail says that Theo Walcott may be out on loan from now till the end of the season. Theo who has not attained the dizzying height that he is capable of according to Le Prof, still has a lot to learn and especially playing upfront.

Whenever he gets the ball he seems to be 'double teamed' and muscled out of it. If he is out on loan, the piece says that Wenger requires that he be played up front. Lets hope that if he is loaned out, we get the finished product when he returns.

Billy Gallas speaks about the game against Spurs and the effect it had on the boys and so on and said-

ā€œIt is difficult to accept this defeat and 5-1 is too much. All the players are very disappointed and sad. I think Tottenham were better than us and we have to accept that...

Now we just have to be strong and forget everything because, on Saturday, we have another big game which will not be easy. Newcastle have a new manager and they want a result at the Emirates.

We have to win that game because we have ambition. But [right now] the fans are upset and we are upset. All the Club are upset and we have to accept it.ā€

And did you read this about Berbatov staying on at Tottenham all because they reached the Carling Cup final, that really is a laugh! Really is! Some pedigree that is!

While Spurs wet themselves over being in the prestigious Carling Cup final, their first chance at silverware in generations (which shows you their A class pedigree again), we can look forward to the other three pieces of silverware we are still in the running for. The first however up is Newcastle in the FA Cup at Ashburton Grove. More on our impending FA Cup adventure later.

So long Gooners!

PS.I just watched Goal II yesterday, and just to warn y'all, gooners do not watch it! Just do not!
