Memo to the Chicago Bulls: Fire John Paxson
I'm going to get straight to the point: Bulls GM John Paxson should be fired at the end of the season.
Unlike every Chicago media outlet, I refuse to tip-toe around the issue. I am not going to give him a free pass for pulling Chicago out from the hole that Jerry Krause dug for us.
I am not going to pat Paxson on the back and tell him that everything is going to be OK.
I am here to lay down the law, and say what everybody else is afraid of saying.
Many people will point to the success of his first drafting, which includes Kirk Hinrich, Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, and Andres Nocioni. But I beg you reader, to look beyond the flashy names, and take a closer look at their accomplishments on the court.
This is a group that has never seen a conference championship while playing in a far inferior conference.
It is a quartet that recently has been plagued by injuries.
And most importantly, it is a group that has become famous for their inability to improve as they mature as NBA players.
And more prominent than his draft "successes" are his more recent blunders, which began when the Bulls drafted LSU forward Tyrus Thomas.
Tyrus has mostly been M.I.A. this season and when he does play well, it is only for short periods of time. His play can be characterized as inconsistent, erratic, and downright stupid.
His biggest mistake was handing over a four-year, $60 million contract to Big Ben Wallace, the most ineffective offensive player I have ever seen.
Nobody in the game looks more confused than Wallace when he is passed the ball on the block.
Throw on the recent controversy over rookie forward Joakim Noah and the decision is simple: fire Paxson now, before it's too late.
