As the big sides prepare for the new season, many of last seasons player's have become the first casualties of the mass clearout, making space for another set of over rated, over paid prima donnas.

Manchester City have Patrick Viera, Manchester United Owen Hargreaves, Tottenham Hotspur Jonathan Woodgate and West Ham's Matthew Upson are perhaps amongst the higher profile players to be shown the door over the summer but the list is extensive as the teams and managers plot the forthcoming season in search of silverware or survival.

Other players that will probably be picked up for another season in the big time, will be the likes of John Carew, James McFadden, Bolo Zenden and Jonathan Spector.
