Cyber Sunday: What You Should Choose, and Why.

Curthis EhrhardtContributor IOctober 22, 2008

As we all know, WWE tries to put together the cards it best sees fit both for our entertainment and their storylines. This is not better proven then with the most interactive event of the year, Cyber Sunday, where YOU choose the match-ups, YOU choose the refs, YOU choose the matches, and YOU can very well effect the outcome. But there's always the question of what should you pick? Well, ladies and gentlemen, I'm here to tell you there's no need to worry your pretty little heads. Allow me to break these matches down and show you what the best options are for maximum enjoyment.

Most people would start from the championships and work their way down the list. I'm not going to do that. I'm going to go in the most logical order of matches they will have at the ppv itself.

YOU CHOOSE his opponent. This match will be aired at 7:30, exclusively on

R-Truth, "The Franchise Playa" MVP, or "The Cornfed Colossus" Festus.

Festus:This man has been downright destructive since his debut with Jesse. Unfortunately for them, they never got the shot they deserved. Festus is a mean, lean, massive truck that runs through opponents almost with ease. The question is, who has he beaten lately to really earn a title shot? I think he has a little bit left to do, then it'll be time to give the man his shot.

MVP: This man has done some pretty amazing stuff since he came to WWE. He's also done some really stupid stuff. He didn't get a single pin in the championship Scramble, he failed to win back his United States Championship when it was taken by Hardy, and he hasn't really done anything of value as of late other than whine and complain about how he's not getting a title shot. Definitely, he needs to put his skills where his mouth is and win a few matches before I would even consider voting him in for this match.

R-TRUTH:Since his debut on Smackdown, ole Ron Killings has beaten gradually better competition. Compile that on the fact that he has one-upped that champ on more than one occasion, and also add in the fact that he's the only one on this list that recently has a victory over Benjamin, and I'd say we have a winner. If their last match was any indication, these two make one hell of a match-up and I believe this would be the most dynamic and logical pick to take on Benjamin and perhaps even relieve him of the weight that the gold creates.

ECW Championship Match: "Everyone's Favorite Superstar" Matt Hardy (c.) vs. ???

YOU CHOOSE his opponent.

Evan "Air" Bourne, "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry, or "The Fighting Irishman" Finlay.

Evan Bourne: This kid is the definition of what excitement in wrestling is all about. With high flying skill that is almost unmatched, a quickness that is hard to combat, and technical ability that is uncanny, this young gun brings an "Air" that very few can. He is definitely one of the brightest superstars in the WWE, and has a huge career ahead of him if he doesn't get hurt. He would be a hard match-up for anyone, and with his huge victory on ECW this week, has some major momentum. The question everyone has is is he really ready for that next step?

Finlay: Finlay is one of the best veterans still doing it. With his hard-nosed style and uncanny in-ring savvy, Finlay is one of the toughest opponents anyone will ever have. Mix that with his never say quit attitude, and his always pugnacious focus, and you have yourselves one hell of a title match, since Matt Hardy himself also has some pretty major fight in him and also has a pretty darn good technical acumen. And after so many years in the business, Finlay definitely deserves that title shot that has eluded him for so long.

Mark Henry:Being the World's Strongest Man is a claim no one in the WWE can make, and it sets Mark Henry apart from all other superstars. Unfortunately for his opponents, it also allows him to bring a ferocity and attitude that is pretty much unmatched. Combine that with the fact that he's still upset about losing in that Championship Scramble at Unforgiven, and we have ourselves one hell of a fight for the champion. However, Mark has had two tries at getting that title back, and failed horribly both times, so many would say its time to give another superstar a chance.

WHO SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?: (TIE) EVAN BOURNE OR FINLAY. Its time for somebody else to step up to the plate. Henry hasn't really done much since he lost to convince me or many others that he deserves another shot. Combine that with the fact that it took Matt Hardy all of a minute or so to beat him at No Mercy, and you have your reasons. The choice you have is hard-hitting, hard-nosed technical match-up, or fast-paced, high-flying, high-risk match-up. Tough choice, I leave that one to you.

YOU CHOOSE the match.

Miz & Morrison vs. Cryme Tyme, Jamie Noble & Mickie James vs. William Regal & Layla, CM Punk & Kofi Kingston vs. Team Priceless for the Tag Team Championships.

Miz & Morrison vs. Cryme Tyme: These two have collided in some pretty good matches, but the war is not just in the ring, as these two groups have developed a major war of words on between the two biggest shows, The Dirt Sheet, and Word Up. However, the downside here is that we've seen this match. Four times in fact. And there's no belts anywhere on either side.

Jamie Noble & Mickie James vs. William Regal & Layla: Noble and Regal have developed themselves quite the rivalry thanks to the British Honeypot Layla. Regal and Noble have had some pretty good matches, and you throw the always bubbly and entertaining Mickie James into the picture, and you have yourself a pretty good match. However, again, the only thing really on the line here is pride.

CM Punk & Kofi Kingston vs. Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes (c.) for the WWE Tag Team Championships: Team Priceless and Manu have stepped on a lot of people lately on their way to dominance among the tag team division. They have proven time and again that they definitely have the skill to maintain that dominance. However, they really screwed up when they crossed two young former champions, and Kofi and Punk have been on a warpath for revenge ever since. This rivalry started when Team Priceless and Orton took Punk out of the Championship Scramble, and it blasted off when Kofi and Punk "enlisted the aid" of MVP to dispose of the champions at No Mercy. This would definitely be an awesome match, with good technical ability and excitement on both sides. Plus, this one actually has more than pride on the line.

WHAT YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR: TEAM PRICELESS VS. PUNK AND KOFI FOR THE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS. Its a we should go all out and put gold on the line. Plus, this one would definitely be the least annoying and probably the most exciting.

YOU CHOOSE his opponent.

Goldust, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, or Honky Tonk Man.

Goldust:Lets face it, the man is a freak. A man who dresses like a woman, and who's finisher is a kick in the corner right to the gonads? Man, I would love to see Santino get that. However, Goldust is not really currently relevant to anything going on right now, and I really don't think this the time to bring him in, even if its only for one night. He was a great champion, but lets just let him go.

Roddy Piper:He is no stranger to Santino, having had an ongoing rivalry with him that culminated with Cousin Sal pinning Santino thanks to Piper. The problem I see here is that the rivalry with Santino was not a very exciting one, and Piper's presence, though igniting, is almost disappointing at the same time. Also, he wasn't champion all that long. And he currently really has no place in the story or in the WWE.

Honky Tonk Man:Now here's a man we haven't heard from in a very long time. However, of the three choices, he makes the most sense, because Santino is comparing his run to Honky Tonk Man's, and Honky also did have the longest I-C run ever. Combine that with the fact that it would be fun to see him return, and the fact that this entire things started with his name, and I think everyone would like to see Honky take out Santino and end his little "I'm Better than HTM" thing.

WHO YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR: HONKY TONK MAN, since Santino is currently comparing himself to him, he should be the one that gets the chance to take out Santino. And it would be cool to see the return of the king for one night. lol.

YOU CHOOSE the match.

Falls Count Anywhere, Best of 3 Falls, or No Holds Barred.

Falls Count Anywhere: These matches are always cool because the action is guaranteed to be everywhere and not stay in the ring. The question you have to ask is, if it not in the ring, can Rey still pull of what brought him to the dance, the 619? Also, can this match really be all that great without weaponry? I think there's better options. Cool to see, but I don't think it will work for this battle.

Best 2 out of 3 Falls match: Again, can be fun, however, I think this match is a little too plain for this rivalry. Plus, if someone gets DQ'ed, that's a fall, and this match might either be way too long or too short. Again, not quite enough excitement for me. We need something bigger for this rivalry.

No Holds Barred Match: I think this one is the best possible choice based on how vicious and violent this rivalry has gotten. Just picture it if you will: Chokeslam off a ladder through a table...619 around the steel ring post through a table.....big splash off a ladder onto the floor.....oh my. This could get very interesting very quick. And both Rey and Kane would be able to do pretty much anything to stop their opponent. Its basically the same thing as a Street Fight, and I think that's exactly what these two warriors need.

WHAT YOU SHOULD CHOOSE: NO HOLDS BARRED, HANDS DOWN. Best chance for an exciting, bloody, violent revenge match. Get em boys!

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Chris Jericho (c.) vs. "The Animal" Batista.

YOU CHOOSE the special guest referee.

"The Legend Killer" Randy Orton, "The Icon/The Showstopper/Mr. Wrestlemania, The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, or "The Texas Rattlesnake" STONE COLD Steve Austin.

Orton: He's still on injured reserve, and yet he has changed the title picture with some help from Team Priceless. He has also in the past put many wrestlers on the shelf with that brutal punt. However, is he unbiased, and do we care? He is controversial, but I think we can all agree that there's better choices, and since he still really can't be attacked, I don't think we should go this route. Plus, I think we're all getting a little sick of hearing him whine as of late, and he's been siding with Jericho a bit more than Batista.

Michaels:After the last few months, I think this is the last person Jericho wants to see. At the same time, Batista's still ticked off that Michaels ended Flair. Still, Michaels hates Jericho a whole heck of a lot more than Batista, and even has some respect for Batista. And he said himself that he would love nothing more than to screw Jericho. So, again, though it would be funny to watch a Sweet Chin Music/Batista Bomb combo, I think we should look at another option for the best, most entertaining, and also most fair match.

Austin:Ah, yes, the WWE's resident trash man, the ultimate ass-kicker. Steve Austin is always involved at Cyber Sunday, because he is still one of if not the most loved superstar in WWE history. And also, he has no sides in this match. True, he lost to Jericho years ago for the undisputed title. But he has no reason to really pick a side, as neither of them have any real beef with him and he has no beef with them. Plus, the last few times he was ref, he was extremely fair, called it right down the middle, and didn't allow any BS while allowing them to really just beat each other up. I like Austin as the ref for this because this is a situation that needs a no-nonsense, fair call, and Austin brings that to the table. Plus, he definitely will take care of any and all outside interference. And we also might get to see the loser get Stunnered, always entertaining.

YOU CHOOSE the match!!!

I Quit Match, Knockout Match, or Last Man Standing match.

I Quit Match: These matches are always fun because the brutality knob is twisted to full power. However, I just can't see either of these guys quitting, leading to a long, long, long match that will probably end in a knockout anyways. Still, would be interesting to see what lengths they would go to to kill each other....and Taker would be able to use that submission thing on Big Show.......and it would be fun to see which one quits.

KNOCKOUT MATCH: This seems to favor the Big Show....and probably wouldn't be all that fun to watch, though again, the weaponry would be on full bore. Still, it would be basically the same thing as the I Quit Match, and might not take that long.

Last Man Standing Match:Always been one of my personal favorites. The absolute ruthless aggression the Undertaker shows in this match is almost unmatched, and both would have to come harder than they ever have to knock the other one out for a ten count. I think this has the most potential to be bloody, brutal, and gruesome, and this is Taker's playground, though Show is pretty ruthless himself. Overall, this one has the most potential.

WHAT YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR: (TIE) I QUIT OR LAST MAN STANDING: It depends on whether you want to see a man quit or get knocked out for ten seconds. Both would be absolutely brutal and violent, so its really a matter of taste.

WWE Championship Match: "The King of Kings/The Cerebral Assassin/The Game" Triple H vs. ????

YOU CHOOSE his opponent.

"The Charismatic Enigma" Jeff Hardy, "The Moscow Mauler" Vladimir Koslov, or both in a Triple Threat Match.

Jeff Hardy: Hardy is a man who is always exciting to watch, and never quits. He is also the man who always is so close to the brass ring, only to have it snatched away time and again. Still, he was literally a half second from beating Triple H at No Mercy, and should definitely get another shot. Would be awesome to see them go head to head again.

Koslov:One of the few men on this earth who has repeatedly been able to leave Triple H unconscious and hurting on the ground. Koslov is a bad, bad man, and his wrestling ability is absolutely devastating, as is his power. This man is like a mack truck in the ring, a tank, running through opponents and leaving them broken on the ground. He has proven he can stop the King of Kings more than once, and has definitely earned his chance.

BOTH:Why the hell not? C'mon, Triple H has made a career of overcoming the odds, and both of these superstars has more than earned a chance and proven they deserve a shot. I think its time to give it to them. Seriously. Both of them, and Triple H, all in the same ring? Mayhem ensues!!!! Would also guarantee the fairest chance for all three, and truly determine which of the three is the best man to have the title, because whoever wins this would have earned it, plain and simple.

WHICH SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?: TRIPLE THREAT WITH BOTH. Best way to settle a who's the best is to throw them all in the ring to battle it out. Would also lead to the best and most exciting match.

So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. Feel free to make your own picks, as these are just the opinions of one man, but just know that I have seen many, many, many episodes and ppv's, and do have some knowledge in what makes for an exciting ppv match. So choose don't want to regret your decision later.

Curthis, out.
