How I Got UFC 80 for Free

No, more like a rough sketch of how to pay for it.  Not only that, but chips and dip.

Step one, realize that Jorge Rivera is a better fighter than people realize.  This gives what they call odds makers the idea that he is going to lose.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

Step two is to realize his opponent, Kendall "the stick bug" Grove, and his major fault.

Grove is a six foot six inch fighter 185lbs fighter, who is not as capable as people think.  He seems to fair quite well against younger talent, but not the well rounded waters of old man rivers.  In the opening seconds, Rivera lands a right that puts Grove on his heels.  Rivera immediately scores a takedown and finishes him with 20 or more unanswered punches, crumpling Grove to the mat.

Back to that point of oddsmakers.  When an oddsmaker gives a thumbs down to a fighter, their respective "lines" shows a positive.

Example, Rivera was plus 250 (+250) on average, this means for every 100 dollars you bet you will win 250 dollars, 100 bet + 250 "line" = 350 dollar payout.  Conversely, the oddsmaker that gives a thumbs up to a fighter would show a negative.  Example, Grove was minus 350 (-350) on average.  In this situation, you would have to bet 350 dollars to win 100 dollars.  To the trained betting eye, you would not bet on Rivera.

Step three is the tricky one.  Knowing what I know about human beings and physics, Grove is not going to make it far in MMA.  A 6 foot 6 inch human frame cannot support that much muscle weighing only 185 lbs.  Patrick Cote eluded to this after he punched Grove in the head, leading to his submission.  It would be like fighting one of those wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube men.  Rivera seemed eagerly surprised at this gem of a fact, which he exploited to pummel Grove to the ground.

Step four would be applying what you know about MMA and the UFC to the nearest sports betting facility.  I am in no way condoning betting, but it can fund Pay Per View events.

Rivera proved himself, once again, by defeating the highly touted Grove. Rivera used his strength and superior fighting instincts to knock out his opponent.

Congratulations Jorge El Conquistador Rivera. Crush that bug!
