One week after the Miz lost the WWE championship twice within 24 hours, many people are wondering where he will go from here.
Many felt that the Miz only gained legitimacy because of his lengthy title reign, but the question stands: Can the Miz remain in the limelight without the WWE title?
Reports have surfaced across the Internet that Vince McMahon is still very high on the Miz and Creative only decided to have John Cena win the title because they think it will generate even more interest in the Rock-Cena feud.
As a result, all signs point to the end of the Cena-Miz feud at Over the Limit, but where will the Miz go from there?
The fact of the matter is that if the Miz wants to have any longevity as a top WWE superstar, his handling of his next feud will be integral to his future success.
If you look at the top stars in WWE history, they were able to remain relevant and create feuds that were still "must-see" without having a world championship on the line.
Love him or hate him, John Cena has remained relevant over the past 10 months despite not holding the title. This may be partially due to the fact that Cena is the top superstar in the company and is constantly slammed down everyone's throat, but his feuds still were interesting.
Most of us would love to see a Miz-John Morrison feud, but it appears that Morrison will feud with R-Truth for the next few months.
It would also be great to see the Miz feud with CM Punk because their sarcastic mic skills would harken back to the days of the great verbal battles between the Rock and Chris Jericho.
WWE wouldn't start this feud though because they very rarely feature heel vs. heel feuds, and it appears that Punk will feud with Mason Ryan if he breaks away from Nexus.
Another possibility would be Rey Mysterio, but no one knows how long the rehashing of the Mysterio-Alberto Del Rio feud will go.
It has been speculated that Del Rio will face Cena at SummerSlam, so you would think that the Mysterio feud will be relatively short, but who knows considering how rapidly things change.
When it all boils down, it seems like there are a few potential feuds out there, but nothing that will keep the Miz as a bona fide superstar.
Which is why I think the Miz should be the person that feuds with Chris Jericho when he returns.
The Miz has adopted a lot of Jericho's mic skills as a part of his repertoire and has said numerous times that Jericho was a big influence on his career.
Jericho's elimination from Dancing with the Stars could be used as a starting point for the feud since the Miz was in attendance when he was voted off.
This would be a way to elevate the Miz with the casual fan (since Jericho is more widely known in mainstream media now).
You also could base it on their backgrounds in reality TV, now that WWE focuses much more on entertainment than wrestling.
If Vince wants to keep the Miz at the top of the mountain while he takes a break from chasing the WWE title, the best way to do so is to have a showdown between the man that turned WWE "upside-down" and Raw is Jericho
