Top Five Players for Arsenal

Benjamin RogersAnalyst IOctober 15, 2008

Sitting in bed the other night, I came up with a new idea for an article series: the top 5 players from each major team in Europe.

The players would be of my decision, but any players that could be added could be sent by comments from the viewers of the article.

I'll do a poll every issue to see who is the most popular player from each club, then at the end of the long article series, I will put all the top names into one big league article.

After I've gathered the favorite players from each league, I will put them into the ending article to find out who the most popular player is overall.

I will try not to just include Europe in the competition but also include some of the other major clubs from around the world as well.

The leagues I will look at will be the Premier League, Ligue 1, Serie A, Bundesliga, LFP, MLS, Brazilian League, A-League, Portuguese League and the Dutch League.

The first article will be about the Premier League's Arsenal, who play in the Emirates Stadium in London.

No player is ranked by skill at this stage its just a random pick of the players that I think are Arsenal's top five players.

Top Five

Name: Cesc Fabregas

Position: CM

Age: 21

When you think of Arsenal, you think of Cesc Fabregas as Mr. Arsenal. Arsenal's best playmaker, and a player who doesn't just make assists but scores goals. In my opinion, he's the best player at Arsenal, but many of you may disagree.

Name: Emmanuel Adebayor

Position: Striker

Age: 24

Last season he was Arsenal's top goal scorer and after the master Henry left Arsenal, he stepped up and filled his boots by scoring goals. It looked nearly positive that he would leave in the summer, but he chose to stay at the Gunners to fight for trophies.

Name:Tomas Rosicky

Position: Winger/ attacking midfielder

Age: 28

Unfortunately, Rosicky has been riddled with injury during the past two seasons, but when he is at his best, he is one of Arsenal's best players.

He supplies assists and is able to score at least 10 goals a season. He is one of my favorite players for Arsenal when he is fit, and I hope he returns for Christmas.

Name: Robin Van Persie

Position: Striker

Age: 25

One of Holland's top young strikers and is really making a dent in the National team. He is Arsenal's second striker and is always getting better every game.

He has scored some tremendous goals in the past, such as a screamer against Charlton. With a bit of luck, he will soon be hitting 20 or more a season.

Name: Kolo Toure

Position: CB

Age: 27

Kolo is one of Arsenal's best defenders and should be the captain instead of Gallas, in some fans' eyes.

I'm one of these fans, and I really think it should happen soon. He's 27 already and deserves a shot at it. He isn't shy in front of goal and has scored a couple of screamers and headers in the past.

Well, the Arsenal list is done, I'll be back with the next team in the series in a day or two.

If you have any suggestions for who you think should be in the top five, then please feel free to leave a comment, or you just want to vote for one of the five, then please get voting.

As always, hope you enjoy the article.
