Washington State-Oregon State: Cougars Top Beavers 69-46
The Washington State Cougars havenāt played too many games in front of their hometown fans this season. Thursday night was their first home PAC-10 conference game and they notched another win.
Oregon State fell victim to the tough defense of the Cougs on the hardwood of Friel Court. Though the game was close at half timeā WSU was up by tenā it was typical Cougar basketball in the second half.
In what has become something quite familiar, Aron Baynes led all scorers for the game by pouring in 17 points. Derrick Low contributed another 15 points.
Point guard play-maker Taylor Rochestie turned in another nice game, too. He scored 9 points, dished out 9 assists, grabbed 3 rebounds, had 2 steals, and stayed on the floor for 33 minutes of the game. Nice!
Itās pretty obvious that Cougar Nation is in love with this team. They turned out en mass Thursday night. Over 10,000 fans roared with delight while watching WSU put on a near flawless performance.
Solid shooting from the field against the Beavs. Try 52 percent gang! Three-point shooting? How about nine of 18? Poise and skill from the free throw line? Oh yeah. They were six of eight. And of the eight trips to the line, Baynes took six of them. Yes, he was a beast in the paint once again.
Thus begins another streak!
About the only fault to be found with the Washington State game Thursday night was that it wasnāt televised. Although, that had more to do with the slow start of OSU than the great start the Cougs are off to.
Chances are good that FSN believed that television sets would be changing channels all over the state once WSU established dominance. It would have been fair to guess that would be the case around halftime.
Sure enough, that guess would have been right.
Will they be ready? Hmm...will the sun rise in the east Sunday?
GO COUGS!!!
