Chad Pennington and the Miami Dolphins started it up early as he threw a 67-yard touchdown pass to little unknown receiver Patrick Cobbs. Pennington and Cobbs would hook up again for an 80-yard touchdown pass. Pennington would have a spectacular first half.
But Houston had none of it keeping it close with two Kris Brown field goals and a Jacoby Jones 70-yard punt return for a touchdown. The score was 14-13 Miami at the end of the first.
The third quarter started off with Matt Schaub throwing a 12-yard touchdown pass to Andre Johnson to take the lead. Ricky Williams and the Dolphins answered with a touchdown of their own to keep the game at 21-20 at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth, it started to get interesting. Kris Brown would hit another field goal to put the Texans up 23-21. The Dolphins would strike back with a Ronnie Brown touchdown to put them up 28-24.
Then it was Matt Schaub’s turn to steal the glory. Schaub led the Texans down field with a couple of amazing Andre Johnson catches. After two incompletions to Johnson, Schaub ran it on third and goal for a touchdown and the game.
Overall Schaub was 22/42 with 379 yards passing and a touchdown pass and a rushing touchdown. He also threw two interceptions. Houston did not have much of a running game as Steve Slaton only had 50 yards. Andre Johnson had a great game receiving gathering 178 yards on 10 receptions. Ken Walter also had 98 yards receiving on eight receptions. He also had a great catch on Houston’s final drive of the game.
Miami did well, but not well enough to win the ball game. Pennington had 284 yards passing and two touchdown passes, both to Cobbs. Ronnie Brown had 50 yards rushing, Ricky Williams 48.
Total for Pat Cobbs: 138 yards, 3 receptions, 2 Touchdowns.
