Wrestlemania 25: The "Dream Card"

October 11, 2008

Well we are about six months away from Wrestlemania 25 and I'm already hyped up for Wrestlemania's 25 year anniversary.

So I (like every other WWE fan in the world) have been thinking about what matches might be happening at Wrestlemania 25! Here is a look.

The Money in the Bank Ladder Match:

Featuring: John Morrison, Evan Bourne, Kofi Kingston, Shelton Benjamin, Kane, Mr. Kennedy, CM Punk, and MVP.

This Match has just enough name power for casual fans to care about the match and enough athletic stars to make the "Holy Crap" moments possible. This would be on hell of a ladder match. No doubt.

ECW Championship Match:

Matt Hardy vs. Vladimir Kozlov

Am I the only one who sees Kozlov being moved to ECW within the next six months? Really? Oh well Hardy's program with Mark Henry won't last until "Mania" so this would be an intresting competition.

Grudge Match:

Edge vs. The Big Show.

Well when Edge gets back he is not going to be happy with Vikkie Guerrero for making him participate in that Hell in a Cell match with the Undertaker at Summer Slam. I'm betting after Edge returns he will try to get his revenge on Vikkie, but a certain "Show" will not be to happy about it. All of that leading up to this grudge match at Wrestlemania 25.

Triple Threat Women's Championship Match:

Micke James vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Melina.

In my book these three ladies are the most talented divas in the WWE today. This match would truly decide who would be the top lady in the WWE.

"Dream Match":

Undertaker vs. Shawn Micheals.

It's the best Wrestlemania match we haven't seen yet. Can you imagine the Texas crowd chanting "Lets go Michaels" and "Let's go Taker" back and forth for this match? These two Texans could have that "Lets prove who is better" match to prove who is more respected or what have you. I don't really care as long as it happens.

Summer Slam Rematch:

Batista vs. John Cena.

Cena has unfished bussiness with Batista and will want to prove that he is better than him. Classic rematch feud. It's all about respect. Easy, simple, and freakin awesome.

World Heavyweight Championship:

Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton (Royal Rumble winner).

I love the idea of two heels fighting for the championship. Both of these guys hate each other and would do anything to win the title—and if they're put in the same match at Wrestlemania, sparks would fly no doubt.

WWE Championship Match (Main Event):

Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy.

Of course they would have to give this feud some time to ware off before Wrestemania, but I think this is where Hardy should finally win the title and I can't think of anyone better than Triple H to give it too him. It's either this or Jeff vs. Edge for the WWE Championship at "mania."

I'm sure there will be famous Texan Hollywood stars will be there and of WWE legend and considering it's Texas we could see a freshly WWE Hall of Fame inducted "Stone Cold" Steve Austin making his presence known  in some way. Who knows?

I likr e some of these, but if its dream matches I got to put Jeff Hardy in money in the bank take Kane out dude, for me at least. The Taker/HBK one, is a dream of mine too, Batista/John Cena match would be good, you know they talked about having it at wrestlemania, but they needed to hype RAW because of the big ratings slide, random fact. Everything esle I'd agree with sort of, if Jeff was in the MITB then Triple H would have to face someone like R-Truth, but I don't know if we could put anyone then The Rock or Stone Cold, who by the way is still a member of the RAW roster, check WWE.com, sorry another randon fact, but everything else plays out the same way I'd want it too myself, good job!

Yeah I did have Jeff in mind for MitB, but I had no one for Triple H to fight. I really have a feeling Jeff Hardy is going to win the title this year at Mania, maybe he will win the Royal Rumble. (Fingers crossed).

You know he was supposed to win MITB last year, he got suspended an they gave it to CM Punk, so this year he may win it, and finally cash it in sometime next year, that is if they put him in it this year. I'd love it if the WWE put him in this year

I also don't see Kane fitting in the MITB but hey that's Ross' call. I am happy he put Hardy v. HHH because I too think Hardy might be winning the gold at WM25. Plus, Hardy has done the MITB and yes he was to win it this year but circumstances occured. I feel he might be above that match now. (R-Truth? Ugh, I like him and he is over quickly but I don't think that he's WM main-event material in 6 months time)

yo Shane you think R-Truth is going to be over quik? He is a hot comadity on Smackdwon and is really popular dude, I see him winning Us Gold from Benjamin soon, I mean when is the last tiime he defended it anyway? I don't think he has since he won it from Matt Hardy a couple months bck

He would have been Champion already hade he not gotten himself suspended. Hardy's worst enemy is himself and thats always been true.

disregard last statement, I dodn't read the Shane respnse right the first time, I do think he might be in the Money on the Bank though, that is if he can keep the popularity up like he is doing, And Jeff is still at that level for MITB too, I mean Jericho was in it, and he has won WWE Title gold befe, its not just for the ones who never had it, and Jeff never has so its perfect for him and exciting for us

Well I see the MitB match as a way to get the young, underrated, athletic guys on the Wrestlemania card so that casual fans, who only buy Wrestlemania can see them. So maybe they will tune in more often as a result and of course they keep some name power in there to keep everyone interested, but I think Hardy has moved on the bigger and better things now. Not saying it is a bad thing to be in that match, but Hardy is main event material now. You don't see John Cena or The Undertaker in the MitB match.

dude you don't see them in there because although both in a ladder match before they were big before the MITB match was created, MITB was made by the idea from Jericho one year, and John Cena won his first WWE Title at that same PPV, The Undertaker was already a WWE champion at least 4 times by then. Both were still not the ladder match type to begin with, where as Jeff Hardy is theltimate ladder match typoe, as Edge is too, who won it, RVD was, who won it, and even Kennedy who lost it to Edge but still won the match. CM Punk the list goes on

See all of these guys won the match and became champ, with eception of Kennedy of course. Jeff would have a certainfor sure shot to win if he did it, and won the match, which I think the WWE will make him do, or win the Royal Rumble, thats the only other wa to me

I would add Ted Dibiase in there somewhere with a big match too. Maybe MITB, or a title shot from winning the rumble. I see him making a singles run down the road, breaking off from simply priceless as the company sees a good future for him.

Wow! Seriously? I find Cody is more talented than Ted. I don't see either of them anywhere at Wrestlemania, maybe you see something in him I don't.

well I think the 2 of them complement each other well. Cody is better in the ring IMO and Ted is more adept on the mic but they both have bright futures. I don't think either one will have a prominent role at WM25 but definitely 26 and on.

I think Rhodes is more talented. It seems like he needs to relax though, I saw him in action and on the mic when he was in OVW he was better because he seemed more confident in himself.

Wow, gone are the days where a Tag Team Title and/or IC/US title match make the card for Wrestlemania.

All Wrestling fans know that the IC Title used to be the 'Workhorse' Title....But now....ugh... I guess the Merger killed it... but the last time I remember being excited about the IC title.

As for Kane in the MITB....he was in the first one....

Taker/Michaels....Wrestlemania...the streak vs. Mr. Wrestlemania... I love it.... As much as I love HBK, I hope he doesn't end Taker's streak tho. I never want Taker to lose at Wrestlemania....I want it to be like a Hank Aaron or Lou Gehrig type record....one that is beatable... but you have have longevity to do it...I guess 18 straight Wrestlemania victories could be like that too..but I am rambling now.

Great Article Ross, always love reading your stuff

Cool article and good matches overall, like the MITB ladder match but I would keep CM Punk out of it.
You know... I never thought about Matt Hardy vs Vladimir Kozlov for the ECW title, but I like the idea dude good job. Taker vs Michaels would be great but I doubt it happens. Jericho vs Orton for the Worls Heavyweight title... I would add CM Punk to the mix and make it a triple threat. I think Punk never got a fair rematch since losing the title, Jericho and Orton hate each other and Orton cost Punk the title in the first place, these 3 guys just mix up very well. Finally, Triple H vs Jeff Hardy not sure, they're in a rivalry right now and I'm not sure another match at WrestleMania would be that much interesting.

The problem I have with "professional" wrestling is that people like you fruitlessly attempt to justify it as some kind of sport, when it is more accurately a non-competitive, exhibitionist spectacle for people who enjoy watching well-oiled, muscled men grapple with one another through a rehearsed and choreographed series of moves, leading to a predetermined outcome.

As a true sports fan who enjoys reading about real sports here on Bleacher Report, I find such articles ridiculous and out of place. You writing about professional wrestling is no different to someone else writing about "Dancing with the Stars". Wait, I'm wrong on that count. Although their moves may also be choreographed and rehearsed, at least there is a true competitive element to "Dancing with the Stars". The outcome is not predetermined.

"Professional" wrestling is no more of a sport than a "game" played by the "Harlem Globetrotters". Do you see people writing articles about the Globetrotters on B/R? No, because most basketball fans are smart enough to understand the difference between rehearsed, light entertainment and the real deal. Apparently fans of wrestling have not realized the difference that exists within their own favored sport.
