Nick Diaz Video After Knockout of Paul Daley: 'They're Gonna Suspend Me'

Nick CaronApr 9, 2011

In yet another bizarre interview with Nick Diaz, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani talked to the Strikeforce welterweight champion shortly after his victory over Paul Daley on Saturday night.

In a tough fight that saw Diaz get dropped on more than one occasion with near stoppages, Diaz was eventually able to regain his composure and knock out his British foe.

Among other things, Diaz apparently believes he will be suspended following the fight.

“They’re gonna suspend me for that [expletive],” Diaz said with confusion in his voice, while pointing off to the side. “I don’t even know why I do this. I’m like, ‘Whatever, suspend me.’”

Like the rest of us, Helwani seemed to be completely blindsided by this assumption from Diaz and inquired as to why Diaz believes he will be suspended.

“For whatever, I don’t know, but I guarantee I’m suspended for whatever happened out there.”

Strikeforce CEO, Scott Coker, has gone on record before about Diaz being a little bit “off,” but according to Ariel Helwani’s Twitter, said that he “has no idea why Nick would think that right now.”

Although he seemed very frustrated, Diaz admitted that a suspension might not be the worst thing for him at this time.

“I need a vacation anyway. They fight me too much,” he abruptly stated. “I’m not going to be the one to back out of these fights.”

Diaz has spoke out before about Strikeforce booking him in too many fights, but appeared to be even more upset about it than usual tonight.

“Nobody gives a [expletive] about me,” he cried out. “They’re over there, throwing me into fight after fight after fight. Going, ‘Oh, this guy will knock him out. We’ll get rid of him like that!’ You’re going to have to find some other way.”

Even worse, Diaz believes that tonight’s fight wasn’t “fair.”

“If you call that a fair fight, I don’t know how people think that’s a fair fight. That wasn’t a fair fight,” he insisted. “I just fought. I got kicked up in the leg. I got up, what does the guy do? He tries to kick me right in the leg. That’s not a fair fight, man.”

“My other fight before that wasn’t a fair fight. None of these have been. I’ve got people out to get me. Every fight, I’m fighting blind opponents. I don’t know who it’s going to be, who I’m fighting, if I’m really fighting them.”

Whether or not Strikeforce is trying to kick Diaz out is anyone’s guess, but things are certainly beginning to boil between the two sides.

“It’s gonna take a little more to get rid of me,” Diaz concluded.

Note: According to ESPN’s Josh Gross, CSAC Executive Officer George Todd said that he has “no idea” why Nick Diaz thinks he’s getting suspended and that no suspension is coming.
