Can Daniel Agger Fill Martin Skrtel's boots

Martin Skrtel is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after a scan revealed he suffered a cruciate ligament injury in Liverpool’s win over Manchester City.

The Slovakian defender was carried off in agony after falling awkwardly in the latter stages of the Reds 3-2 win yesterday. Skrtel was also given oxygen on the pitch and Liverpool’s worst fears were today realised when the results of the scan showed that he sustained an injury to his posterior cruciate ligament. He will see a specialist tomorrow, at which point it will be determined how long he is likely to be out of action.

Skrtels injury sees Daniel Agger come back into the liverpool 1st team squad. Can he form a partnership with Jamie Carragher ,just the way Skrtel did?? Last season Agger showed tremendous quality as a central defender also pushing up on a few occasions, even managing a goal or two. Agger was sidelined with an injury that kept him out of the 1st team, and as a result Sami Hyppia took his place. However Rafa needed a backup which led him to purchase Martin Skrtel in the January transfer window last year. Rafa was so impressed with Skrtel that even though Agger is fit now Skrtel still gets the nod ahead of Agger.

However from what i have seen of Daniel Aggers performances last season he looks like an amazing defender with lots of potential and i believe that he will fit in perfectly in Liverpools back four. He has the opportunity to show Benitez what he is made of, and regain his 1st team place. Agger has had mixed emotions of seeing his LFC roommate being sidelined with a nasty injury ..however this presents an opportunity for Agger to creep back into the first team. Skrtels 'no nonsense' approach will surely be missed on the pitch, however Agger has it in him to takeover where Skrtel left of. If any Liverpool fans are panicking , i say fear not coz the "Great Wall of Agger" is with us:)

Wishing Skrtel a speedy recovery and lets hope he is not sidelined for a lengthy period..so that he can get ready to challenge the great dane for a team in the 1st team
