Fedor vs. Arlovski: The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Kimbo*

Post-Kimbo Blues got you down and you don’t have a little blue pill to swallow? Well your prescription might only be a few months out. If the UFC can’t cure what ails you, then a little shot of Affliction might do the trick. Sandwiched between UFC 93 and 94 will be someone’s day of reckoning...or so we can dream.

The best thing to come out of Elite XC’s weekend show was an anticipated future fight between the Pit Bull from Belarus and the Last Emperor of Russia. Thanks to the contractually unobligated nature of Josh Barnett, Affliction will have the pride of bringing us the only fight that can keep their house of cards from falling.

Andre will need to strike (with) force if he wants dethrone the current WAMMA champion...that and get his neck and head to do a little dance. A little head movement goes a long way when you’re trying not to lose to Fedor in under a minute.

So what can we expect in this fight between top ranked heavyweights? Tim Sylvia lasted long enough to make it as a commercial in last night’s fight card.

Talk about a conspiracy!

I hope they give Tim a cut of the action for his supporting actor role. Let’s just hope that cut isn’t so big it diminishes his desire to make money the hard way.

In case you’re keeping score at home, the fanged fighter from Belarus has a less-than-stellar record against Sylvia at 1-2. While Andre isn’t great—at least not yet—he is not the same fighter that lost to Tim back to back in the days when they were part of a legitimate organization.

Arlovski looks determined, prepared, and ready to be taken down by Fedor. If Roy Nelson of the now defunct IFL can take him to the ground (and do absolutely nothing) imagine what Fedor** will do.

(Just out of curiosity, is IFL an acronym for "I am a Fat Loser?")

So thanks are owed to Affliction. They did their part in making Elite XC’s show more reputable. As if Elite XC needed it! Maybe they will get the chance to return the favor and let Affliction air the rematch of the fight that never happened.

Talk about a Day of Reckoning. The only “settlement of accounts” that night might be the debt collectors putting these two organizations in a financial choke hold.

In the meantime, I will continue to keep a lookout for future UFC cards. I hear they have a few good men in their burgeoning organization. If only they will suck up their Pride and bring Tito back. Wouldn’t that be a dream?
