ATLANTA—Before I put my drinks on ice and get ready to head down to my tailgate before 'Mania, I want to finally make my WrestleMania predictions after a week of scratching my head.
The beauty of this WrestleMania is a lot of people are going to have different outcomes, as anything can and will happen tonight in the Georgia Dome.
I want to start small and finish big, so let me preview the Snooki match first.
John Morrison, Trish Stratus & Snooki def. Dolph Ziggler & Lay-Cool
Why on earth WWE brought in Snooki, I will never understand. She will get booed loudly, that is for sure. Thank goodness Trish and JoMo will be on hand for this match, but I hope it is a quick one. This one isn't hard to predict, as the good side should get the job done.
Big Show, Kane, Vladimir Kozlov & Santino Marella def. The Corre
I hope that Kevin Nash gets squeezed into WrestleMania somehow, and this match would be perfect to do it in. I would like to have him replace Marella or Kozlov and have three big men take out Corre. Either way, I foresee The Corre going down in this one.
United States Champion Sheamus def. Daniel Bryan
This match shouldn't, and better not, take long. Nothing against Sheamus and Bryan, but I am sick of these two having matches. Also, this belt just holds no significance to me anymore. I am not trying to be disrespectful, but how many of you actually care about this match?
Jerry Lawler def. Michael Cole with special referee "Stone Cold" Steve Austin
As much as it pains me to say this, I am actually looking forward to this match. I have to give the WWE creative team some credit here; they do a great job with the heel heat on Cole, because I have never disliked a WWE performer this much. I just want to see Stone Cold Stunners all around after this match is over. Can we please have a Rock and Austin backstage segment too? That would be epic.
Cody Rhodes def. Rey Mysterio
I am really looking forward to this match. I hope Rhodes gets the victory here and goes back to his old self. I have loved every minute of this feud, though, and I think Rhodes is doing a tremendous job with the mask and selling the injury to his face—it is just good stuff in my book. This match isn't going to be a show-stealer, but it should be a good one.
How many of my predictions do you agree with?
CM Punk def. Randy Orton
Here it is right here—this is the show-stealer. Orton and Punk are going to put on a match that fans will be talking about for the weeks following WrestleMania 27. I've thoroughly enjoyed most of the buildup to this match, except for the whole tour bus scenario a few weeks ago. I like how Orton punted every member of Nexus before 'Mania, making the match one-on-one. However, don't count out Mason Ryan to interfere in this match.
Alberto Del Rio def. World Heavyweight Champion Edge
We will have at least one new champion tonight in Atlanta. Viva La Mexico, Alberto Del Rio! This third-generation star is going to do his family proud tonight and win the gold—at least I hope so. I don't mind Edge and I am an Edge fan actually, but if you are going to give Del Rio the Rumble victory this early in his career, why not go all the way with it?
John Cena def. WWE Champion The Miz
The bigger question to everyone in this match doesn't involve the actual competitors, it is what will The Rock do. My thing is, I don't think The Rock will do anything at all and Cena will actually do this on his own. I don't think a heel turn will transpire tonight because that just isn't possible, but in the future, I do think it can happen.
However, after Cena wins, I do fully expect The Rock to challenge Cena for the title, now that in his in his possession.
I would like to note that in my ringside seat, I won't be pulling for Cena, though. Just because I predict he will win, doesn't mean I want him to win. Well, I'll take that back, I would like for The Rock and Cena to go at it with the belt on the line. Most likely at SummerSlam. My sign for tonight: http://twitpic.com/4fxlqm.
I know there will be post-match Rock Bottom involved as well.
The Undertaker def. Triple H
19-0, ain't no grave.
Triple H has already tried to defeat The Undertaker once at WrestleMania, though WWE creative has pulled a Chris Benoit on us and acted like it has never happened. I am sorry if that was inappropriate, but I was looking for a good analogy. What I expect to happen, in a match that will be a good one, but not great, is Shawn Michaels to get involved.
However, HBK won't be out there to make sure the streak is broken—he will be out there to make sure Triple H doesn't do what he couldn't do. It's nothing personal, it's just business.
Follow me on Twitter @nyyrobinson, I will be posting plenty of pictures from my ringside seat tonight at WrestleMania.
