WWE News: Trish Stratus Backing Former Women's Champ for Hall of Fame

Gone Baby GoneMar 23, 2011

In an interview with IGN, Trish Stratus mad some surprising remarks about former WWE Intercontinental and Women's champion Chyna.

Stratus stated; "I think Chyna should be next in because she did a lot of stuff to bring attention to the women's division itself and just presented women as a different thing," Stratus said.

"I think fans were conditioned to see women as eye candy for a long, long time and she really broke the mold with that."

Most fans would probably agree that Chyna's resume clearly makes her Hall of Fame-worthy. However, former boyfriend and current heir-to-the-throne Triple H may have some say on whether she gets in.

Not to mention, she had a rough separation from the company and will likely not be welcomed back anytime soon. Chyna set the standard and broke the mold in regards to what the women's division should be.

At the time, Chyna stood out from the rest as she competed against both men and women alike. She was definitely a trailblazer and a force to be reckoned with.

She had a solid feud with Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental title and was an integral part of both versions of the 90's D-X.

Since leaving wrestling, Chyna attempted to have a career in fitness. Using her real name, Joanie Laurer, she launched her company "Body by Joanie." Not much came from this and she found herself on the VH1 reality show Surreal Life.

As years have passed, Chyna has been the center of several scandals, one being a sex tape with then boyfriend X-Pac, and she has also had several stints in rehab.

One of those stints included the reality chow Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. During that time, it was revealed that a lot of her addiction problems stemmed from her strained family life.

Due to the WWE's wellness policy, it is highly doubtful that they would reach out to or even consider Chyna to be a part of the Hall of Fame.

Hopefully, as time goes by, Chyna will have her life completely straightened out and she will get the recognition she deserves.
