Wrestlemania 27: John Cena vs. The Miz Should Be the Main Event

WrestleMania 27 is now only two and a half weeks away and people are already buzzing about the great matches that are on the card.

Some of the matches highlighted are Cody Rhodes vs. Rey Mysterio, Edge vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Title, Randy Orton vs. CM Punk, and Undertaker putting his undefeated WrestleMania streak on the line against "The Game" Triple H.

Now all of these matches are going to be thrilling battles but I believe that John Cena vs. The Miz for the WWE Title should be the main-event at WrestleMania 27.

The Miz and John Cena have feuded before back in 2009 when the Miz was a mid-card talent trying to stick his nose into the main-event scene. This ended up back firing on Miz because the WWE had John Cena absolutely squash Miz at the 2009 Great American Bash pay-per-view. This really hurt Miz's stock because he was viewed as a guy who was gold on the mic, but weak in the ring. Miz vastly improved his in-ring work over the last year and a half.

With the work has come the success. The Miz was rewarded with two United States Championship reigns, a Unified WWE Tag Team reign with Big Show, a spot on his first WrestleMania last year, Winning Money in the Bank, and finally capturing the WWE Title back in December.

Since The Miz has become the WWE Champion, his stock has risen within the WWE as a creditable champion who can work with all sorts of talent and make the storyline look believable. The Miz had some pretty stellar matches with Randy Orton at T.L.C and Royal Rumble, and then he worked with Jerry Lawler at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

The matches I have just listed, made Miz into one of the most solid champions that the WWE has right now.

Now with the WWE Title, comes a great responsibility to carry your "brand." Miz has done that and should be rewarded with a main event spot at WrestleMania. His opponent is a guy who year in and year out is always in the running to headline Mania: John Cena.

John Cena is either loved or absolutely hated by wrestling fans, but you cannot deny that the man puts butts in the seats each and every time he performs. Cena has grown into one of the best in-ring workers that the WWE has on their roster. Cena has had plenty of excellent matches over the past year and seems to have great chemistry with Miz. So plugging Miz against Cena for the WWE Title was a no-brainer in the eyes of many.

These two men could be a big enough draw to headline WrestleMania, but there has been a big wild card that has been added into the situation.

The "Wild Card" happens to be a man whom the fans have missed for so long. His name is...you guessed it, The Rock.

The Rock has cut some pretty funny promos on both Miz and Cena over the past several weeks. The Rock was named as the host of WrestleMania and he has really done a great job with building up the hype for the WWE Title match. I believe that the WWE will have Rock in the match in some sort of manner as either a run-in or as a guest referee. No matter what way the WWE books The Rock's involvement, it will draw people to tune into WrestleMania.

Now the match itself may not be a wrestling clinic but I believe it's going to be an electric environment that hasn't been seen in the WWE for a long time. I hope that the WWE goes with the smart money and makes the WWE Championship match as the main-event because I don't see any other match that nearly has the hype as this match does.
