We will be doing an exclusive interview with IBO bantamweight champion Abner Mares (21-0-1, 13 KOs).

The undefeated champion is fighting IBF bantamweight champion Joseph Agbeko (28-2, 22 KOs) as the final championship fight of the Showtime Bantamweight Tournament on April 23rd at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California.

Many, including myself, are considering Mares to be the next big Mexican "real deal" sensation in boxing. When I say "real deal," I mean he, at the age of 25 years old, has already proven himself to be legit in facing top elite champions such as Vic Darchinyan and Yonnhy Perez, unlike some other padded and heavily protected fighters that we will not mention here.

In a "fight of the year" worthy performance many ringside experts, including myself, had Mares winning against Perez in their 2010 fight. Ultimately, the fight was ruled a draw.

Then, of course, in the first round of the Showtime Bantamweight Tournament Mares defeated Showtime poster boy Darchinyan in an explosive split decision win to capture his IBO world title.

Both of these fights were exciting and added to his fast rising stock and growing star power to all of the fight fans.

Mares is an orthodox fighter who can fight like many of his fellow Mexican countrymen in an aggressive come-forward slugging fighting style that can win over the most casual fight fans, and he is also a good technical boxer as well.

Being born in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico and growing up in Hawaiian Gardens, a city just outside of Los Angeles, Mares has that star quality that can win over not just the Mexican and Mexican-American fans but any fight fan who wants to see a true warrior get in the ring with a bandanna around his mouth as if he just got done robbing a bank only to win the fight in an exciting convincing manner.

By checking out his Twitter feed we can see Abner Mares is often hanging out with some celebs between fights in Los Angeles, eating sushi with Wladimir Klitschko and hanging out with fellow Mexican-American rappers like Baby Bash.

So fight fans send in your questions for Abner Mares for the exclusive interview going down real soon!
