WWE: The Best and Worst of the Undertaker (Part 2)
Welcome to the conclusion of part three of "Internet Wrestling Community (IWC) Votes."
IWC stands for Internet Wrestling Community.
Part one: “Who Are Your Top 5 Favorite Wrestlers of All Time?”
Part two: "Who Do You Think Are The Best Wrestlers of All-Time?”
Part four "Favorite Mania Moments."
Part five "Who Are Your Least Favorite Wrestlers of All Time?”
Part three focuses on what you (the readers) thought are the best and worst of The Undertaker's matches at WrestleMania.
The first four slides focus on his best matches and the following four focus on his worst matches.
And without further ado, here are the results.
No. 1 Shawn Michaels: WrestleMania 25
31 of you voted this as your favorite Undertaker WrestleMania match!
Let's be honest, did any other match really have a shot at the No.1 spot?
I've been watching wrestling since I was eight years old and this match is one of only a handful of matches that I could watch over and over again and not get bored.
Prowrestlingnet.com wrote "Nothing else on the show came close to being this good. Fans will be talking about this match for decades like some of the other great WrestleMania matches. An instant classic."
Take into the fact that you have arguably two of the greatest wrestlers of all time who are years past their prime and some how manage to steal the show. That right there is reason enough for the match to top this list.
"The WrestleMania 25 match was one of the best matches I have ever seen and it was the match that once again reminded me why I watched wrestling as a sport. Even my friends who hadn't watched wrestling for over 6 years who I invited round to watch the match thought it was amazing. So my heart is telling me that the WrestleMania 25 Undertaker vs HBKmatch was the greatest match in "the streak"" - James Pike
No. 2 Shawn Michaels: WrestleMania 26
This match grabbed second place with seven votes.
As a filmmaker I know first-hand that sequels typically will never be better than the original.
With that said, Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels II failed to recapture the magic of their first WrestleMania meeting. But it also exceeded it in other aspects.
Although it may not have been as exciting as their first matchup, it was far more emotional and the ending is something I'm sure most wrestling fans will never forget.
"I say Shawn definitely brought the best out of The Undertaker at WM 25 and 26 respectively. Funny how people call them washed up and old yet they out do all the young guys on the roster by far." - The GoldenBoy
No. 3 Triple H: WrestleMania 17
In my opinion, this is one of the most underrated WrestleMania matches in history.
With six votes, this match came in third place for Undertaker's best matches at WrestleMania.
You had Triple H (in his prime) facing off against The Undertaker (as the American Badass) and the end result was a straight up fight that left people wanting more.
10 years later we get possibly get our last chance to see two of the greatest stars from the Attitude Era square off at WrestleMania.
"That match HHH just got owned, a little anticlimatic but it was a good beating that I wouldn't mind watching over several times" - Joe Doe
No. 4 Randy Orton: WrestleMania 21 (four votes)
No. 5 Edge: WrestleMania 24 (three votes)
No. 6 Kane: WrestleMania 14 (two votes)
"That match put Orton on the map in my opinion I also don't see how his match with Edge was so underrated too I have this as my 3rd best match of the streak...... In fact I have this match in the Top 20 matches of the last Decade" - James Pike
"His match with Kane WrestleMania14 for two huge guys over 300lbs the effort that they put on that match was pretty impressive.." - Mohsen Leonard
No. 1 Giant Gonzalez
This grabbed first place on the "worst list" with 33 votes.
Words can't even describe the quality of this match....
"Wrestlemania 9 was the worst in WWF/WWE history. Ceasar's Palace and the announcers in togas, not to mention Yokozuna being beaten in like 20 seconds by the One Eyed Wonder Hulk Hogan. But Giant Gonzalez in that horrible muscle suit that was hairy lol what were they thinking? Tragic...Tragic!" - Jordan Simon
No. 2 Mark Henry: WrestleMania 22
This grabbed second place with seven votes.
This was a match that had huge potential.
You have two of the biggest men in WWE.
You book them into a casket match at WrestleMania.
The end result should be something that is talked about for years. Well, it is still talked about...but for the wrong reasons.
"The worst match I saw was the Mark Henry. Why I think this? Its the only WrestleMania match involving the Undertaker I have ever turned off half way through and I haven't watched it since. It was awful." - James Pike
No. 3 Big Boss Man: WrestleMania 15
Something about this match just wasn't right.
It seemed like neither man really cared for the match or the feud to be honest.
Well, it was apparent because this match was voted the third worst Undertaker match at WreslteMania with four votes.
"Worst was easily WrestleMania15 the match never made since and the only good thing that came out of it was seeing the Boss Man get hanged" - The Dunk
No. 4 Randy Orton: WrestleMania 21 (three votes)
No. 5 Ric Flair: WrestleMania 19 (two votes)
No. 6 (Tie) Diesel: WrestleMania 12 (one votes)
No. 6 (Tie) Kane: WrestleMania 20 (one Vote)
"I think a lot of these had a lot of fanfare but turned out to be marginal average to above average matches like WM 12 against Diesel. WM12 was hyped up pretty good and was iconic for undertaker going up from under the mat to grab diesel." - Joe Doe
Hope I Didn't Put You to Sleep!
Well, those are the results.
Were they what you expected?
What are your thoughts?
