
Strikeforce Feijao Vs. Henderson: Live Play-by-Play and Results Slideshow Blog
Tonight, two Strikeforce titles will be on the line at Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson in Columbus, Ohio.
First, the Strikeforce Women's Welterweight Championship as Marloes Coenen takes on Liz Carmouche. After earning the belt with a win over Sarah Kaufman, this fight will be Coenen's first attempt at defending her title.
Also defending a belt for the first time at this event will be Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante. Cavalcante won the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champioonship by defeating Muhammed Lawal in August 2010. Now, Cavalcante will get a chance to show that he is one of the best in the world if he can record a win over Dan Henderson.

Preliminary Card Results

John Kuhner defeats John Felty by technical submission (triangle choke) at 4:31 of the second round.
Kuhner wins this fight with a triangle choke after possibly losing the first round. With the win, Kuhner ended a two fight losing streak.
Mitch Whitesel defeats Marc Cofer by submission (guillotine choke) at 3:55 of the first round.
After a Cofer throw attempt failed, Whitesel locked up a guillotine choke that ended the fight. The win put an end to a lengthy five fight losing streak for Whitesel, while extending Cofer's winless run to four fights.
According to Compustrike, 12 of the 21 strikes Whitesel landed in this fight were leg strikes.
Brian Rogers defeats Ian Rammel by technical knockout (punches) at 4:23 of the first round.
Rogers has now won six bouts in a row, all finished the first round. This was the Strikeforce debut for both fighters.
Compustrike recorded 27 successful strikes for Rogers in his win over Rammel.
Jason Freeman defeats Jason Riley by submission (strikes) at 1:52 of the first round.
In under two minutes, Freeman was on the brink of defeat and felt the thrill of victory. Riley dropped Freeman early and the fight looked to be nearly over. However, Freeman stood and returned the favor until Riley submitted due to strikes.
Jorge Gurgel defeats Billy Vaughan by submission (guillotine choke) at 0:44 of the first round.
Gurgel bounced back from back-to-back losses with a guillotine choke against Strikeforce newcomer Vaughan.
Roger Bowling defeats Josh Thornburg by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
Bowling out-struck Thornburg 61-9 in the first round. Bowling was not quite as dominant in the second round, but still landed 30 more strikes than Thornburg did. It was a dominant fight for Bowling, who had 118-22 edge in total strikes and was successful on all three of his takedown attempts.
Billy Evangelista Vs. Jorge Masvidal

Round 1
Evangelista lands an outside leg kick, but another attempted kick is caught by Masvidal, who lands a right hand. The two fighters clinch against the fence and trade knees. Masvidal lands a punch to the body and then a knee before being taken down by Evangelista. Masvidal attempts a guillotine which fails, but uses the distraction to stand. Masvidal lands a nice knee and defends a takedown easily. At the end of the round, Masvidal stuffs another takedown.
B/R scores the round 10-9 Masvidal.
Round 2
Masvidal gets a takedown with a single leg, but does little with it. Masvidal lands a jab and Evangelista attempts a takedown, which is defended. Masvidal stuffs yet another takedown and llands a hard knee for good measure. Evangelista attempts another double leg and Masvidal uses the poor shot to attempt an anaconda choke. As Evangelista fights it off and stands he takes another knee to the body.
B/R scores the round 10-9 Masvidal.
Round 3
Evangelista has to know he needs to do something here in the third round, but the pace has slowed significantly. Masvidal continues to pick Evangelista apart on his feet. Late in the fight, Evangelista pushes forward and lands a few hard punches, but Masvidal circles away from the fence and survives.
B/R scores the round 10-9 Masvidal.
Masvidal out-landed Evangelista 59-15 in total strikes.
Masvidal defeats Evangelista by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
Tim Kennedy Vs. Melvin Manhoef

Round 1
Kennedy is changing levels early to make Manhoef think about defending takedowns. Kennedy shoots in, but Manhoef defends well. Kennedy throws a front kick and sets up a takedown attempt with a left hook. Manhoef defends and lands a leg kick. A hard leg kick from Manhoef drops Kennedy to the canvas. Manhoef takes another hard leg kick upon standing. Kennedy commits to a double leg and finally gets the fight to the ground. Kennedy transitions to full mount then takes Manhoef's back. Manhoef is covering up as Kennedy lands punches then finishes the fight with a rear naked choke. Kennedy landed eight strikes on the ground before forcing Manhoef to tap.
Kennedy defeats Manhoef by submission (rear naked choke) at 3:41 of the first round.
Marloes Coenen Vs. Liz Carmouche

Round 1
Coenen lands a number of inside and outside leg kicks early. Carmouche misses a straight right and Coenen counters well. Coenen lands another hard inside leg kick. Coenen scores on a hard combination. Coenen continues to counter well and mix in some inside leg kicks. Carmouche clinches, though, and presses Coenen to the fence. Both fighters reverse positions multiple times and trade punches to the body along with some foot stomps. After some inactivity, the referee breaks and pulls the fighters away from the fence. The fighters trade before Coenen lands two hard front kicks to the body. Coenen out-strikes Carmouche 31-18 in the first round.
B/R scores the round 10-9 Coenen.
Round 2
Coenen lands an outside leg kick before being run into the fence again. Coenen has a muay thai clinch, which prompts Carmouche to shoot in for a double leg. Coenen drops down for a guillotine attempt, but Carmouche slips out and end up in Coenen's full guard. Carmouche postures up and lands a hard right hand. Coenen is looking for the armbar, but Carmouche defends nicely and move to north-south position. Carmouche is looking good this round and lands some knees. Coenen tries to latch onto and ankle, but Carmouche gains full mount and rains down punches. Coenen is lucky to get out of the round as Carmouche continues to score. Carmouche landed 87 strikes on the ground in the second round.
B/R scores the round 10-8 Carmouche.
Round 3
Carmouche takes the fight to the edge of the cage again. Again, Carmouche takes Coenen down and transitions to full mount. Carmouche is pounding on Coenen, who is hopelessly covering up and trying to throw her legs up to catch something. Carmouche continues to throw punches from the mount at the end of the round, but they are weak and few are landing.
B/R scores the round 10-9 Carmouche
Round 4
This time it is Coenen who takes the fight to the ground. Carmouche stands, however, and takes Coenen down with a double leg. Coenen quickly locks up a triangle choke and Carmouche is forced to tap.
According to Compustrike, Coenen was out-landed 221-48 in total strikes before the submission.
Coenen defeats Carmouche at 1:29 of the fourth round.
Rafael Cavalcante Vs. Dan Henderson

Round 1
A hard right outside leg kick from Cavalcante is the first strike landed. Henderson is patient, possibly setting up that big right hand. He lands it after taking another leg kick. Cavalcante drops Henderson with a right of his own, but Henderson recovers quickly and takes Cavalcante down. Cavalcante is controlling Henderson's posture and the referee stands the fighters up. Henderson presses forward and clinches against the fence. Henderson lands a right to the body and Cavalcante answers with a knee to the body. Both fighters trade knees to the body now before the fighters are separated by the referee. Close round.
B/R scores the round 10-9 for Cavalcante.
Round 2
Henderson is much more aggressive to start the second round. After a flurry, Henderson presses Cavalcante against the cage. Henderson drops to a single, but lets it go and attempts a throw. Henderson ends up in Cavalcante's half guard after a struggle. Cavalcante reverses, though, and is in Henderson's full guard. Henderson is controlling Cavalcante's head and hoping for another stand-up and he gets one after taking some punches to the body. A Cavalcante left head kick misses. Henderson puches with a combination, lands a right outside leg kick and scores a takedown with a body lock. The round ends with Henderson in Cavalcante's half guard.
B/R scores the round 10-9 for Henderson.
Round 3
Henderson counters a leg kick with an overhand right. Henderson lands a hard right, which leaves Cavalcante covered up on his stomach. Henderson rains down a few more rights from the back mount and the fight is stopped.
Henderson had a 31-7 edge in power strikes landed before finishes Cavalcante.
Henderson defeats Cavalcante by technical knockout at 0:50 of the third round.
