Camping World's been in heavy negotiations with NASCAR on becoming the new title sponsor for the truck series.
While Camping World has been happy with its sponsorship deals with Kevin Harvick Inc., they are looking to expand their sponsorship in NASCAR.
They sponsor Ron Hornaday's No. 33 truck full-time. In fact, they are the defending truck series Champions, currently in second in this year's race, just one point back.
For a number of races, they are primary sponsors on Jack Sprague's No. 2 truck and for fourteen races in the Nationwide Series on Kevin Harvick's No. 33 car.
They also have part-time deals with both Clint Bowyer and Robby Gordon, along with being a race sponsor in select Craftsman, Nationwide and Sprint Cup races.
Sounds like it's a matter of working out the details between Camping World and NASCAR.
NASCAR officials on Friday morning met with Kevin Harvick in Kansas to go over details and keep Kevin Harvick, Inc. in the loop.
It looks like at least for 2009, Camping World will remain on Hornaday's No. 33 hood and maybe renew the deal, with one of its sister companies stepping up to continue the relationship.
It's not known yet if Camping World will continue its 14-race sponsorship deal with KHI on their No. 33 Nationwide car. Although, Kevin Harvick said he would need to get a sponsor for 14 races next year.
NASCAR has no problems with them sponsoring a truck while being a title sponsor and encouraged them to continue. Also, there are no hard feelings on this potential deal, from Kevin Harvick, Inc. Harvick realizes it's a business deal.
Camping World has increased its sponsorship in NASCAR this year, putting its name on several races. Camping World is also the title sponsor of the East & West Series.
It's not known yet if they will continue with being the title sponsor of this developmental series or if NASCAR would need to replace them.
The other reason for Camping World wanting to expand its role in NASCAR has been because they discovered it's worked for them being involved in the series.
"Our NASCAR program continues to deliver exceptional value on all levels, be it our on track or at-track [programs] or entitlements," Hunt said. "Everything continues to deliver and grow in its delivery. ...those thousands and thousands who gather here and combine those passions of camping and NASCAR together are really appreciative of our support of their passion." "And we found some great ways to connect with those fans and the real momentum that those customers and NASCAR fans give us to take us down the road." (Bob Pockrass/scenedaily.com)
I have hinted about this happening, shortly after their were rumors of Camping World and NASCAR talking for the first time.
It will be a few more weeks to see if it becomes official or if KHI announces a new part-time sponsor for it's No. 33 Nationwide team in 2009.
It's a great fit for NASCAR, Camping World and the fans.
