As the NBA trade deadline approaches, fantasy owners are getting nervous about their potential to win. Teams that move a player with considerable fantasy value can be all the difference between winning or losing the entire season.

"Its unbearable at times" says Jake, an NBA fantasy veteran with 17 years playing experience. "In the course of one week, you can go from having the best team in your league to having a decent team that's vulnerable to being eliminated from the fantasy playoffs. The addition or removal of an impact player makes all the difference. There is a lot of money at stake for some of these guys who play in 30 or 40 leagues a season and an owner needs to be ready" he further adds.

To counter this, NBA fantasy owners need to stay alert and have immediate access to the internet to counter any last minute trades that can sink their entire season. "Having a good waiver position at the trade deadline definitely helps" says Mike, another owner who lives in Seattle, WA. When inexperienced fantasy owners drop players of value in the hope that they've found something better off of the waiver wire, it often puts them in worse position because many of these players don't produce. One man's loss is another one's gain" he further added.

Players to consider adding before the trade deadline include:

O.J. Mayo - Mayo was recently suspended for 10 days after violating the the NBA's prohibited list of banned substances. In addition, he has all but worn out his welcome in Memphis and it wouldn't be surprising to see him traded at this point. Even if he is not traded, his stock may be rising due to the injury to Rudy Gay. Someone will need to pick up their scoring and it will most likely be him. However, if he goes to another team, expect his stats to rise considerably.

Troy Murphy - Murphy desperately wants to be traded and the Nets are prepared to accommodate his request. Murphy can average 15 points, 10 rebounds and three assists for the right team. Keep a close eye on him before the deadline.

Wilson Chandler - Chandler would be an instant starter for another team if he were traded from the Knicks, and may be available in the waiver wire due to his inconsistent play. With the pending trade of Carmelo Anthony, Chandler is definitely someone to pick up before the deadline, no matter what happens.

Adding impact players like this when you have players on your reserve roster with little value can only help you at this point. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at Good luck.
