WWE Elimination Chamber Preview: Christian Returns? Lawler Crowned Champ?

Tonight is the second annual WWE Elimination Chamber event, coming to you from the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA.

What is different this year from last years inaugural event? Only one belt will be contested inside of the 16-foot high steel and chain structure.

Edge will go against all the odds to defend his World Heavyweight Championship inside of the Chamber, while The Miz will defend his WWE Championship in one-on-one action against WWE Legend and WrestleMania hopeful Jerry "The King" Lawler.

It is quite obvious to me that Michael Cole, Ted DiBiase and/or Alex Riley will get involved, but I don't think they will be successful.

I believe that WWE will give Lawler the same treatment they gave Kane years ago: one night with the gold.

On Raw, I think the belt will go right back to Miz, with Cole or Riley getting involved again, setting up a potential match at WrestleMania 27 in Atlanta, which I believe will be Daniel Bryan and Jerry Lawler vs. Cole, DiBiase and Riley.

As far as the No. 1 contender of the WWE Championship goes, that will be contested inside of the Elimination Chamber, with the winner of that match going to WrestleMania 27 to face whomever the champion is.

Randy Orton, John Cena, Sheamus, CM Punk, John Morrison and R-Truth will all test their will and strength in this match.

It is tough to call who is going to win, but I do believe that Cena is the more fitting opponent to face The Miz at this point, which would leave Orton to face CM Punk in singles competition and Mania.

My only issue with this is that would be two years in a row that Orton has been out of the main event at WrestleMania, which isn't a bad thing, because being the main draw every big event, ala Cena, can get old.

In a perfect, dream WWE world, The Rock would cost Cena this match, allowing Randy Orton to win and go on to face the WWE Champion at Mania.  No way that would happen, right?

I do think The Rock could play a bigger role in Mania than just hosting, but probably only along the lines of being a special enforcer for Cena's match.

However, I will never rule out a Rock/Cena match for WrestleMania 28 in Miami, that setting is just too perfect at this point and is a very possible scenario for Rock's final send-off.

Back to the Chamber, I do think Cena will find a way to win this match and go on to Mania, but will The Rock make an appearance tonight?  I wouldn't bet on it.

As stated earlier, Edge will defend his World Heavyweight Championship inside of the Elimination Chamber.  He will take on the likes of Kane, Drew McIntyre, Wade Barrett, Rey Mysterio and possibly another opponent.

Dolph Ziggler has been pulled from the match since Teddy Long has returned on Smackdown, thus leaving a vacant spot in the Chamber.

It wouldn't make since for WWE to just have five men in this match, leaving one of the Chamber spots empty.

The Smackdown roster has a few easy replacements in it such as Ezekiel, Jack Swagger or a returning Cody Rhodes.

I think the replacement will be none other then the return of Christian.  At least, I hope so.

A returning Christian could cost Edge his World Heavyweight Championship, but I don't see that happening this close to Mania or Kane, Barrett, McIntyre and Mysterio winning the belt.

I do believe that this could help set up Christian's role at this year's WrestleMania and make Edge/Alberto Del Rio a Triple Threat match with Christian in the mix.

Regardless, Edge should walk out of the Chamber as the Champion.

Speaking of Del Rio, he is in an odd match with Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston tonight, and the match is being referred to as a non-title match.  However, there were rumors that Del Rio could leave with Kingston's title somehow, so it is quite confusing.

This match is oddly placed and doesn't make a lot of sense.  Its two-week buildup doesn't fool me, and I am not the least bit interested in it.  No offense to Kingston, because he should be in the Chamber.

Also, believe it or not, the Tag Team Championship belts do still exist, and they will be defended by the current champions Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov against Corre members Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel.

Really, WWE?  Really?

Might as well just give the belts back to the Wendy's Girl and Mr. GQ.  Who really cares at this point?

So, with a Smackdown Chamber spot open, we could see a potential return.  Christian?  Triple H?  The Undertaker?  Maybe even an in-ring return for Booker T?

Elimination Chamber is the last step to WrestleMania 27 in Atlanta and it could be a big step or a broken one with a nail sticking up that we all should have just stepped over, we'll see tonight in Oakland.
