WWE's Vince McMahon Is Not As Ruthless As He Seems: 3 Examples He Has a Heart
Ever wonder just what was the WWE thinking? If you're like me then you have been dumbfounded by some of the actions by the WWE and in particular, Vince McMahon.
Well, some of the things that have me perplexed can be answered with a surprising revelation. Vince McMahon isn't as ruthless as his on screen character would make him out to be.
Vincent Kennedy McMahon has a heart. This slideshow shows why.
Cancelling Raw To Have Chris Benoit Tribute
Giving Chris Benoit an entire Raw tribute when WWE had to at least consider the possibility that Benoit could be a suspect took a lot of guts.
Mr. McMahon knew that if Chris Benoit was responsible for the deaths of his family then he would have to distance himself from any positive memories and friendship that they had. So what does he do, he holds a cover his butt quick tribute for Chris Benoit.
By canceling Raw for the first time ever, he was able to honor his friend and thank him for the good times before public outcry and anger would make a tribute to Benoit taboo and impossible.
Ask the loved ones of any murderer, molester, or other social outcast and you will hear the same common theme; that they still love them and the version of the person that they knew could never have done something so heinous.
So Vince did the only thing that he could, and that is honor him quickly and then renounce him in public. You can’t blame him for that.
Vickie Guerrero Hired And Handed The Keys To Smackdown Without Experience.
Then you have Vickie Guerrero. Her beloved husband dies unexpectedly from heart failure and she is left without his needed income. Life had to be scary for her at that point.
What does Vince do? He takes a woman without any previous experience being an on air personality and he put her on camera. He handed Vickie not just a microphone, but an entire show.
Say what you want about his product or him, but everyone of us, at the very least, should realize how respectable that gesture was. To give an arguably unqualified widow of one of your dead employees, such an important job takes a lot of heart.
Jerry "The King" Lawler Gets His Wrestlemania Moment.
Performing at Wrestlemania is the dream of most serious wrestlers. At the ripe age of 61 Jerry Lawler is 30 years past his prime and an unlikely addition to the Wrestlemania card.
Yet, for 18 years Jerry worked hard for the WWE, never jumping ship, and never getting his moment at the biggest event of the year in the wrestling world.
What does Vince McMahon do to reward Lawler's loyalty? He stares the IWC critics in the face and shows his WWE superstars, and the world that, loyalty means more to him than popularity. He adds the last chapter to Lawler's Hall of Fame in-ring wrestling career by giving him his very own Wrestlemania moment.
Not too selfish, I must say.
And for those that are already writing a rebuttal to my point of view, I realize that WWE and Vince McMahon have made tons of money and that each effect can be attributed to another cause. Keep in mind that even the purest intent doesn't have to be unprofitable.
The truth is, for as much as I have criticized WWE and McMahon in the past, I have to give credit where credit is due.
