WWE: Who Will Be the Guest Host of Wrestlemania XXVII?

The Grandest Stage of Them All!

Hello, wrestling fans. After almost a two year absence from B/R I have returned. As always, at the hottest time of the year for wrestling angles and feuds coming to a head. That time when a New Year rings and Wrestlemania is around the corner. A time when the WWE "steps up it's game" so to speak.

Rumors circulating around the wrestling world have revolved around one topic lately:

Who Will Be the Guest Host For Wrestlemania XVII?

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon made his long awaited return to WWE television last Monday with an announcement. The announcement was that another announcement would be delivered the following Monday as to who would be the special guest host of Wrestlemania XVII. With WWE buyrates down it seems that the WWE's Commander-in-Chief is grasping at straws to make Wrestlemania attractable to the "WWE Universe." There are a few people I believe are in a strong running for the spot of guest host to WWE's version of the Super Bowl. So lets get to it.

Mr. Wrestlemania

    "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels is reportedly the highest likely candidate as Guest Host. Also my top pick and prediction. It makes the most sense. WWE realizes that the fans still want to see the faces they've been seeing for years. Shawn Michaels will always have the appeal that a Bret Hart, Steve Austin,Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Hogan or a Ric Flair has. It's a universal appeal because they are unique and helped shape the business into what it is today. Plus he's getting inducted into the Hall of Fame so why not utilize him. He is "Mr. Wrestlemania" afterall.

Triple H

Triple H with Father-in-Law Vince McMahon

Rumors are rampant of a Triple H return but many say a return is out of the question. Many people would rather just see him in a talking role. After stinking out the building at the 25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania and a beat-down at the hands of newcomer Sheamus at Wrestlemania XXVI one wonders if there may be a redeeming quality to a Triple H return as Guest Host of Wrestlemania XXVII. A redeeming quality in that he can reconstruct his image away from wrestling and adjust to his role as "a suit." Lets face it, his best days, if he ever had any, are over. It is a high possibility he may be the guest host. It would be a great way to introduce the new era of Hunter Hearst Helmsley-McMahon.

"Hitman" in a 2010 WWE Publicity shot.

"Hitman" is a longshot but always a possibilty. As the WWE Chairman would say "Anything can happen."  It has been reported that Hart is still in good standing with World Wrestling Entertainment. He has said that WWE "doesn't have anything big enough" alluding to the fact that WWE would only use him on big angles and not wear his face out on meaningless stuff that would tarnish his legacy. He has said he wouldn't have a problem inducting Shawn Michaels into the Hall of Fame if asked. Chances are that's a long-shot as well, that spot more than likely reserved for "Clique" member Triple H. "Hitman" as guest host of WM 27 is likely but not that likely.

WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon

    The Creator of Wrestlemania.

Wouldn't it be just like Mr. McMahon to announce "The guest host of Wrestlemania XXVII will be.......ME!!!"  Never say never in World Wrestling Entertainment. The Chairman would add his ol' school flavor to Wrestlemania and give it the feel it hasn't felt in years, which some fans yearn for. Maybe even do the intro like he he used to do a little color commentary in that high pitched voice from days of old. Hey, a guy can dream can't he?

The Celebrities

Snoop in a previous appearance as RAW Guest Host

We all know WWE is famous for dishing out cash to mainstream celebrities for appearances at it's premier event. Among them in the past Floyd Mayweather, Mike Tyson, etc. Chances are highly likely it may be a celebrity to up the buyrates. Snoop Dogg has also made two appearances for WWE; Wrestlemania XIV and as RAW Guest Host. It is highly likely WWE will follow it's trend of a Celebrity guest host of Wrestlmania to boost the buyrates and attract a broader audience.

Kevin Nash AKA Diesel

Kevin Nash AKA Diesel made his WWE Return at the 2011 Royal Rumble.

It has been widely known that Kevin Nash has signed a Legends contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. So we know they are currently making plans for him and that they are up in the air because we haven't seen anything of his character other than his Royal Rumble return. Could be that they are saving him for a role as Guest Host of Wrestlemania. He is a highly likely candidate because he is back in the fold with WWE and his "Clique" member HBK will be inducted into the HOF so it may just fall into place.

Roddy Piper's is a name known synonymously among wrestling fans.

Honesty, What is Wrestlemania without "Rowdy" Roddy Piper?

Seriously folks, here's a guy who was there when it started. As he would say "I was headlining Wrestlemania before it had a number!" And honestly, What is Wrestlemania without "Piper's Pit"? Enough said.

Who Will It Be?

    WWE's flag-ship program.

The possibilities have been provided but in reality they are endless. We will all have to tune in to RAW to find out. Hopefully Vince has something good planned that will make wrestling fans actually want to continually tune in. That's it for now, wrestling fans. But there's more where that came from.
