Cristiano Ronaldo: You want 42? I say 50

The Red Devil, or as Sky Sports famously nicknamed him: The Terminator, Cristiano Ronaldo embarks on mission impossible.

The task that demands greatness, the accomplishment that requires super human ability. All beckon Ronaldo as he begins his 08/09 campaign, 42 goals shy of his last feat.

As the red man from Madeira starts his season off, he has quite a long laundry list of accomplishments to check off. The free kick that has no direction, the head built of steel, the feet of angels, and smirk to go along all erupted Ronaldo's season last year, not only trusting Man United to the top of the EPL and Europe but solidifying his place on the mantel of legends.

Now the question rains in, can the terminator do it again?

After a summer full of enough drama to fill a Spanish soap opera, and an injury to boot, Ronaldo comes back to Manchester for another season. While he has had his critics filling for bankruptcy because of the amount of mouths and nay Sayers he has silenced, this writer asks a simple favor. Ronaldo, can you beat 42?

The answer to that question never came from the mouth of Ronaldo, but instead SAF, and a list of his teammates. They all demand and expect the best of Ronaldo, and all believe in him to out do the impossible, to walk on water, and to make it rain.

As the scientists say, lightening doesn't strike twice, but Ronaldo isn't a believer in science, just look at those gravity deifying free kicks for proof, and he surely isn't a believer in what the negative minded people have to say.

My plead to you, the reader, is don't make the same mistake we have made in the past. When Ronaldo arrived, people said he can't fill Beckham's shoes.

To those who said that I say you are quite right, he hasn't filled Becks boots he's outgrown them. To those who said he would have no career in England after WC 06', I say your quite right. He doesn't have career, he has a legacy. To those who said he has no end product, I say your quite right. He doesn't have an end, his limit is the sky. So please, for Ronaldo's benefit, doubt the man. Then you will assure yourself to a 42+ goal season, enjoy.

The man himself believes, his manager believes, his teammates believe, I believe, but the important question is do you believe?
