So far there has been no shortage of surprises this season. From Tom Brady being sidelined for the rest of the season in week 1, to an irreversible mistake made by referee Ed Hochuli that caused the Chargers to go 0-2, there are several outcomes that were not foreseen by most NFL fans. Amongst them are the teams that are 0-2 including Jacksonville, Minnesota, San Diego, Seattle and Cleveland. These teams were considered to be favorites to win their division and possibly make a run at the super bowl. At this point they are going to need a boost to make the playoffs. Week 3 is exceptionally critical for these teams as the outcomes of their games may determine whether they will be able to turn their season around.

There are a few teams whose 2-0 records are fairly surprising for most fans. They include Buffalo, Carolina and Arizona, although the Cardinals did not face a tough opponent. Trent Edwards and the Buffalo Bills were quite impressive in their 34-10 blowout against the Seahawks, but proved to be a real contender when they defeated the Jaguars last week in Jacksonville.  Jake Delhomme and the Panthers have proven to be a solid comeback team as they managed to defeat the Chargers on the road in the last play of the game in week 1 and comeback from a 14 point deficit to defeat the defensively intimidating Chicago Bears in week 2.  That being said, here are some of my predictions for week 2;

Kansas City Chiefs @ Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan and the Falcons will rebound from a poor performance on the road against Tampa Bay. Kansas City is starting their third string quarterback and rank second last at stopping the run. Michael Turner will and Jerious Norwood will exploit K.C.’s weak run defense.

Pick: Atlanta -5.5

Carolina Panthers @ Minnesota Vikings: Gus Frerotte will get the start but won’t be the solution for Minnesota. Adrian Peterson is suffering from a hamstring injury. If Carolina can beat San Diego without all star Steve Smith than they can definitely beat Minnesota with him.

Pick: Carolina +3.5

Dallas Cowboys @ Green Bay Packers: This will be an exciting offensive shootout. Rodgers and Romo are both on fire. Green Bay and Dallas have not been too impressive defensively. Each team scored over 40 points last week. There are some significant trends favoring the over in this game.

Pick: Over 51.5
