Chelsea Got Fernando Torres for a Bargain at £50 million, Says Rafael Benitez

Former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez, has stated that Chelsea got Torres at a bargain. Rafa believes that the Spaniard is worth £70m, £20 million more than he was sold for.

 

The star striker left Liverpool for Chelsea on Monday for a British record deal of £50m.

In an interview with BBC's popular Football Focus, Benitez said, "I think last year we were talking about £70m."

Chelsea snatched up Torres on the last day of the transfer deadline period, despite having put a bid in for him in the summer transfer window.

There have been a few world class players who have joined another big side and flopped.

It has been reported that he will be playing his first match for the blues this weekend against...Liverpool. If he scores, fans will be thinking, "50 mil well spent," but if it all goes wrong Torres may get abuse from both sides.

All eyes will be on him at Stamford Bridge on Sunday at 4 o'clock.

 

Benitez: "I want to be at Liverpool"

The Spanish boss also said that he wouldn't say no to managing the Merseyside club again in the future.

But he also said: "To be manager of Liverpool is a dream for me. This time, I know that Kenny is doing really well.

"I have to wait and keep watching games, but if you say to me in the future would you like to be manager, for sure, no doubt about this. When, that is the question. I have to move forward, anyway."
