Team Snider vs. Team Barber
Team Snider were in the black jerseys with the likes of captain Mike Richards, Danny Briere, and Simon Gagne, obviously to get work as the first unit. With Team Barber in the orange jerseys, they had some nice names to challenge their opponents. The likes of Scott Hartnell and Joffrey Lupul. Steve Downie centered the second line for team Snider, along with Claude Giroux.
Hartnell looked really quick with the puck, which was a good sign for him. Joffrey Lupul, who was on the first line of the orange. Hartnell is sporting the new-age Derian Hatcher haircut and had to be the guy with the most energy out on the ice other than Richards.
Jason DeSantis, the 21-year-old center playing wing this morning, notched the scrimmage's first goal from the top of the circle with a very nice snapshot. Team Orange changed goalies after the goal and went to Jeremy Duchesne, the 21-year-old.
Lupul, Hartnell and Glen Metropolit were now the main line for orange. Simon Gagne hasn’t been touched the entire time he has been on the ice, but he looked very fluent out there, making very crisp passes and taking quite a few shots.
Giroux impressed with a beautiful penalty-shot goal for team black to put them up, 2-0. Steve Eminger skated into the right slot off the right post to cut the Snider’s team lead in half, 2-1.
Richards' perfect cross-ice pass to No. 56, whose name has been lost apparently for the media, for the quick tap in to the open net. Daniel Briere notched another quick goal about 20 seconds later for Team Black to end the first scrimmage.
Lupul scored on a penalty shot after time ran out to put it at 5-2. Gagne put a blister by Duchesne and scored to go ahead, 6-2. Briere then got stopped after just missing the right corner. Hartnell shot wide to end it, 6-2.
