2008 Fantasy Season Pros and Cons Of Brian Westbrook: A Fantasy Owners Dream

Paul SmytheSep 20, 2008

Any Fantasy Football owner that has Brian Westbrook on their team knows how much he can do in just one week. He always does well, and he puts up big numbers, be it in the stat book, or fantasy scoreboards.

Here is an analysis I have made on Brian Westbrook:

Pros of Brain Westbrook

The key to such high numbers for Westbrook is his ability not only to run (Which he does amazingly well), but also his ability to catch the ball. He is a truly versatile running back.

Whether the Eagles are in passing or running mode, Westbrook will always be an option. And more often than not, they give him the ball. In two games so far he has gotten 45 touches. That is a lot of opportunities for him to score.

And score he does

He is currently tied for most rushing TD's in the league so far, and he is number 5 in receiving touchdowns compared to all the WR's in the NFL this year. He even has more TD catches than Reggie Wayne this season. He is the leader in total Rushing and Receiving TD's.

He leads the league with 30(non-fantasy) points so far. The next player behind him is Marion Barber with 24.

He gets it done

Cons of Brian Westbrook

He isn't in the Top 10 in Rushing Yards

He isn't in the Top 10 in Receiving Yards

Many people think that after last yearโ€™s outstanding performance, he can't do as good this year.

Final Words

I have no doubt in my mind he is the best Fantasy Football RB in the NFL.

Even though he isn't the top in Rushing or Receiving yards, if you add the two together, the Fantasy numbers you end up with are incredible.

He has more fantasy points this year than any other running back.

And, just because someone did really well last year, doesn't mean they won't do as good or better this year.

Yes, LT came off of an amazing 2006 season and did mediocre compared to the expectations of most in 2007, but that doesn't mean it will happen to Westbrook.

Westbrook is more versatile

When the running game doesn't work, just throw it to him.

If passing isn't cutting it, then hand him the ball and let him pound through, gaining you more and more precious yards.

For all you fantasy owners that don't currently have Westbrook, trade for him NOW, before he gets better and even harder to trade for later on.

It might be difficult for you to get rid of one of your really good players, but trust me; he is worth giving up any player in the league for.

Please post comments for any agreements disagreements
